Someone wrote to me a few days ago and asked me if I ever found out about what’s going on with the old Woolthworth’s.
I just happened to notice something different the other day there (paper coming off the windows and lights on) but didn’t get to stop so as I was driving through downtown this morning I stopped to take a look.

I noticed cubicles, which aren’t a good sign, and then saw a note on the door that read something like Seagate financial office are located at some other address and to call some number for information. So between that and the cubicles it looks like it’s going to be another office space.
I am so dissapointed. I’m sure the people at Seagate Financial are nice people and everything but I was really hoping for the space to be used for retail purposes, downtown needs it. I had such high hopes for this space since it was vacant for so long. ??? ???? ??????? What a waste of great retail space. ??? ???????
On a good not I did see gas for $2.77 on the way home, it’s on Union Ave by Sullivan Tires if anyone is interested.

On route 9 west, almost at the Southborough border, is the Tin Alley Grill.
I don’t even know where to start but I want to make it short because I don’t want to recall my one evening there for too long.
They serve the usual “pub grub” and it’s mediocre at best, but what earns it’s $#@% list status is the stench that came wafting out of the kitchen all night. It was so weird, all of the servers were walking out of the kitchen with food like everything was normal. I kept expecting to see one of them come barreling through the swinging door, yell “Oh my God!” and then throw up but I guess the smell is just part of whatever was brewing in the kitchen.
It took the whole “meal” for me to realize it wasn’t just me that noticed it. Everyone at the table was secretly in denial until some one had the guts to ask what that vile smell was and then it was time to leave. Even if they are “Home of the $1.00 Draft” it’s not enough to get me to go back.
I noticed an interesting police log recently:
CIVIL MATTER: 1699 WORCESTER RD, TIN ALLEY GRILL (ADVISED)
3 MEN WALKED OUT ON A $186 TAB. THEY WENT ACROSS TO THE MOTEL 6. RESTITUTION MADE
I can’t believe they spent enough time there to consume $186 worth of food/drink and still had the strength to escape without paying AND cross route 9!

The other day I went to an open house of the almost-completed condos at Dennison Triangle.
They look like they’ll be nice once they’re done.  Here’s a link to some inside shots. People are paying good money ($300,000-$600,000) to live there and they’ve sold a decent amount already. It should be interesting to see if this becomes a popular place and ends up having any effect on downtown.
I used to live off Moody Street in Waltham, it wasn’t the best neighborhood but there are so many great shops and restaurants that walking up and down Moody was something to do for fun.
I think our downtown has such potential to be like that. I’m hoping that with these condos, the arcade project (whenever that gets started) and a little TLC, downtown can be a place worth spending time in.

On my way home today I saw a Global gas station on Waverly street (rt. 135), that has gas for $2.79.
It’s right downtown next to Dunkin’ Donuts. Of course I have no idea about the quality of this gasoline but I’m sure it will make you car go.Â
Just thought I’d share.

I ride by this place everyday on my way to work, it’s an old arcade that still has the games just sitting in there, doing nothing- such a shame! I’d be wasting quarters here all the time if they were open since it’s so close to me but it looks like it’s been closed for a long time.
What’s the deal? Why keep these games just hanging around and why hasn’t the owner done anything with this space? I’d love to just be able to take a look around inside but all I can see are the tops of the games in the windows and they visually blocked off the doors. It’s so bizarre to me. I’d love to know the story behind this.
Maybe they’re waiting for a grand-re-opening : )

Last week my Uncle wanted to meet for lunch and he suggested “How about the Olive Garden? They have a soup and salad special” I cringed but I didn’t want to sound like a snob and with his track record he would insist on paying so I figured I should go where he wants. ??? ????
We got the soup and salad “deal”. tarneeb

The dressing for the salad seemed plasticy or something and the soup tasted like it was straight from a can. Along with this feast you get all the nerf-like bread sticks you want.
I really don’t want to offend anyone but, why do people go here, never mind wait in line?
Even my Uncle said he’d give the place a “2”.
