It would be cool if someone would open up a restaurant with a patio overlooking the lake (and railroad tracks)

Matt is right. The owner is not making an effort to empty out the plaza.

When I moved to town 2-decades ago, that Shell station was owned by a family that took great care in its appearance and especially with its landscaping -- beautiful flowers and perennials were its hallmark. The place really brightened up the area.

With it gone now, to me it's just a sign of how unwilling people are to seek out this area for any kind of business, even gas. Dunkin Donuts is really the only thing that can sustain itself. Even the liquor store moved.

It would be nice to have businesses of some sort occupy that area, but the days are gone of the "sad mall" having any retail merchants that can make a go of it. Trust me, if a business could make money there, it would be occupied. The same problems exist for the dying mall in Nobscot: People will argue for another grocery store, but grocery stores can't survive in this day and age anywhere else except for the major thoroughfares like rtes. 9 and 135.

As for senior parks, we already have a great one in Cushing, just next to Summerville. And the Callahan Ctr. is one of the best places for seniors to congregate in Metrowest.

I sincerely hope the space will not be used for alleged low income housing. We have enough of that now in our town. The obvious unfortunate negative outcomes that one can see reported daily in the Metrowest Daily News from these housing projects is quit unsettling. iI hope the ownr Gould
creates a senior friendly park. Thats right a park for seniors where seniors can enjoy themsleves with activities geared towards the elderly. The skilled nursing facility across the street would benefit greatly from this type of park and other seniors as well. What do you think?

Thank you for your awesome site that keeps us in tune with what is happening in our town; things that may go unnoticed if it weren't for your interest.
Thank you!

I worked in that Shell station 30 years ago and never thought it would close. The town's leadership shouldn't be just concerned with downtown Framingham - how about talking to the plaza owner to put businesses in there asap!

That Shell station was on my way home and I went there all the time. It's too bad. I remember way back when Price Chopper was in that plaza. Driving by there is pretty depressing now.

EK, I wouldn't be surprised if that rumor was fact.

On another subject, I am curious about the situation with Sarah Cloyce's home on Salem End Rd. What is happening with that? I am from Framingham, now living in Lowell, the daughter of Bill and Clare Waugh. In recent years our mother's geneology was done and how astonished we were to find out that Rebecca Nurse was our greatgrandmother x8, making Sarah our great aunt x 8. Sad to realize we grew up in Framingham,so close to mom's family history and we did not know. Would appreciate any information regarding the attempts to save it. Thank you.

Rumor has it that shell's lease was up and the owner of the plaza (Gould) up the ante in a big way. Looks like he is picking them off one by one till the plaza is empty. Then he can develop low income housing.
