Carrie Anne’s/ Lou’s donuts

May 30th, 2011

Today Ethan and I headed down to the newly openedΒ  Carrie Anne’s at the former KFC on 135 (186 Waverly St.).
They are serving a limited menu now as they get ready for their grand opening but you can get some breakfast items including eggs, homefries, corned beef hash, French toast made with challah bread and “Lou’s donuts”.Β  I’m not familiar with Lou’s donuts but apparently they are missed and from what I understand, the owner is Lou’s granddaughter and has the recipes.
Today we just wanted to check out the donuts so we got two and shared them.
Ethan got a honey dipped:

and I got chocolate glazed (served with the hole on top):

They were both really good but kind of leaned toward the chocolate because of the crunchy outer layer.Β  This was an excellent donut. The coffee was really good too.
My photos of the inside didn’t turn out too good but there is a counter with about 10 or 12 stools and a seating area.
I saw the French toast and it looks delicious so I’ll go back sometime to try that.
For more info, their phone number is 508-875-2500 and they have lots of photos on their facebook page if you are curious to check out more images.
I hope this place does well!

  1. Could that be the same Lou’s donuts that was located in the cellar at the end of Mansfield street? They had the best honey dipped.

  3. I stopped in there today and got an OUTSTANDING honey dip doughnut. The ice coffee was good but not as good as Dunkin’ or Honey Dew. You have to put in your own cream and sugar which I don’t like. Even so the doughnuts are SO good I will definitly go back there!

  5. We stopped in for breakfast on Saturday morning – their first Saturday open. The wait was a little long, since they are working out their system but the cinnamon bun was fresh out of the oven and the food was great. We’ll be back soon!

  6. Today my daughter and I stopped by for breakfast. A nice family owned breakfast spot. Sorely needed in this part of town. The owners are realy nice they talked about possibly extending the hours. I wish them well. We will surly be back soon.

  7. I thought the hand written signs on the drive through were king of ghetto, i’m surprised the sign police weren’t all over that(LOL) but i guess the donuts are good.

  8. Having read the posts for this restaurant I have been wanting to try for some time. I finally did today and yikes…it was absolutely horrible. I will forget the terrible service as the waitress was very sweet, but there is absolutely no excuse for food that bad. I wanted so much to like this place and have a local, independant owned place for breakfast or lunch. There were 6 of us and no kidding, everything from the bugers, grilled cheese, blt, omlette, even the donuts we tried were seriously bad. This place will not be in existence within a year.

  9. We have been to this place twice and will not be going back. the food was pretty good – However, the service was horrendous both times. The first time we went it took well over an hour just until we got our food. We figured since they were newly opened that it may just be them getting used to the process. So, we decided to give it another chance about a month later. it was even worse the second time. With only 3 other tables with people in them, it still took well over an hour to get our food and the waitress would disappear for long periods of time.

Food is good, but i’ll stick to the drive through donuts if i ever go back.
