I am an ancestor of Isaac Learned, who Learned Pond is named after. Does any one know the site of the farm/home where they lived? I will be visiting from AZ next month and would love to see it.
Thanks,
Kristi

Regarding this comment: "I have had issues with the hospital not cleaning their shoreline and hope this improves this year !"

Are you saying the hospital actually dumps medical waste in the pond?? Someone should do a channel 7 investigation on that!

I grew up across the street from Gleasons pond, I remember fondly skating and sledding and ice fishing on cold winter days. We skated and ice fished at Learneds pond as well, the fishing was much better at Learneds pond. There were also two rope swings, one was behind Lincoln school, and the other was on a dirt path near the beach. I also remember that judge Farleys son Louie Jr. was the only person allowed to have a motor boat on that pond. We also sledded down a hill behind the brick apartments on Dennison ave. to Gleasons pond below. This was between 1960 and 1064.

I live on learned pond and its great ! I just wish that people would respect it more and not throw trash in it ! I have had issues with the hospital not cleaning their shoreline and hope this improves this year ! Also each resident that lives on the pond has a responsibilty to make sure that chemicals and lawn fertlizers are not used near the water. I would also like to see the town upgrade the beach with new facilities and replenish the sand and also police it more !
Maybe we should create a Learned Pond Association ??

This was a Cubscout Pack 12 outing, the boys had a great time catching fish. We had a bonfire, hot dogs, hot chocolate and lots of fun. The ice was 12" thick and while the top layer melted a little we all got off the ice before the rain. If you have anymore pictures let me know.

I think Learned Pond is a beautiful spot so close to downtown Framingham and I love to enjoy scenic views of the pond, but you'd never catch me out on that ice like that! And, in a sad note, the teenage son of a previous pastor of our church drowned at Learned Pond in the early 1970s.
