Just seeing this now, but I'm sure to find photos. I grew up in Framingham in the 70's to mid-80's, went to many events at Shopper's World, and have a shutterbug for a father. I'll take a look when I'm back there.

Hi Randy,
I know Dave, he was a big help with our display for the Shoppers world roundtable we did at the History Center and we've reached out to him about the book too. I'll keep everyone posted on our progress but we still need some more photos to make this a great book so if anyone finds anything please let me know!
Thanks!

NOTE: You'll need to cut and paste that link (above) into browser address bar to see photo of Salt & Pepper shakers --- for some reason it isn't "clickable".

Michelle --- You will want to get in touch with David Wodeyla, he was one of the managers at the Cinema in Shoppers World for many years and collects a lot of SW items. He has a few photo blogs including this one ---

Last I knew Dave was living in Natick.

Yes Lisa, really! Here's a link to quick photo of the salt and pepper shakers-

I just snapped it quick with bad office lighting. I'll get a better shot if Michelle wants to use them in the book.

Hi Michelle,

I can remember Shopper's Word being on the front cover of my 5th grade math text book, (it was a nationally distributed hardcover book -- just a coincidence that we were in Framingham)... that would have been around 1970-1971 -- maybe you can find a copy of that to include.

I have a copy of the Framingham News with the artist concept drawing of the original shopper's world on the front page (will have to dig it out if you need it). Also, I have aerial photos from several eras including the one's I shot myself in '97 at http://www.framingham.com/history/aerial97/shopwrld.htm

I also have a pair of souvenier ceramic Salt & Pepper Shakers (they are blackface "Mammy" and "Chef" figures) with "Souvenir of Shopper's World Framingham Mass" in gold foil on the belly...

I'll see what else I have, (I know I have several postcards and ephemera items)..

...Let me know what you'd like -- you know where to find me.

remember the train that used to take little kids around for a quarter or maybe 50 cents? I got Marty Barrett's autograph at the white gazebo, he was signing autographs one day I think it was the fall after the 86 world series. My parents took me to see the reindeer there every winter. Miss that place!

I mentioned your request to some members of the Holliston Historical Society. One of them suggested you check the archives of the MetroWest Daily news at the library. Not sure if you could use those for a book, but it couldn't hurt to ask. Good luck with this!
