Main St. Bridge is almost done (I think)!
October 28th, 2009
I was walking by the Main St. bridge project and noticed that the chain link fences are down and the support arched on either side of the bridge are in place.
Also it’s been paved and looks like it’s is almost in business.
Here’s what it looked like a year ago:
From my records, I think this project was started 2 1/2 years ago but I think that’s just when I first noticed it. Anyway, it’ll be strange and nice to have it usable again.
Wow, I am impressed, especially since it took 4 years to build the Golden Gate Bridge, it only took MA DPW crews 2.5 years to build a 20 foot span!

Yep, it will be open by Thanksgiving! It’s been under construction for many years (closed for 10 years approx.). It is just about done. They just need to put the sidewalk rails on (yes, this bridge now has a sidewalk!!) I took some beautiful pics from the bridge the other day… beautiful foliage surrounds it. The road has been redone, repaved, with edging installed. It looks wonderful!

I think it’s been closed longer, I got my license seven years ago and I don’t remember it ever being open.
