RedPepper has reopened. They are under new management and once again this restaurant is much like the Sichuan Gourmet, catering to the Chinese population with real Chinese food. I stopped by and ordered some takeout - the food is outstanding as it was before, but you do need to be open to new recipes.
The new cook is a Chinese person from New York with a formal training in Chinese food preparation.
I loved the meal - give them a try!

Alll I can say, Red Pepper was awesome especially Friday night Jazz. This Brazilian must stop during the nights, only should be used after restaurant is closed.
I want my chinese food again, especially the service. Suzy was a good waitress, she should come back and keep the restaurant actve. She was the only one who actually understood us american visitors.

We had our group Christmas party there in '07 and had a blast so it was decided to go back there again for '08. It snowed the day of the party so we rescheduled with Jennifer (manager) for 1/9/09. I called the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday before the 9th and each time an answering machine picked up with the generic 'please leave a message'. I decided to stop there to see what was up only to find the door locked, lights on, and newspapers scattered about the floor. Fortunately, now that it was after the holidays, it was easy to get another restaurant on board. Very disappointing.

I just stopped by and there is a note on the door stating that due to the bad economy, the Chinese restaurant will reopen in the near future. The upstairs Brazilian restaurant will remain open in the meantime.

This is a good site to create a facility that can serve multi cusine, ethnic food from different countries in South East Asia region e.g. India, Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, China.

It will surely hit and attract many more customers. It will be difficult to find a parking space.

We purpose-fully went here for dinner last week because of the Chinese/Brazilian combo - big mistake. Everyone else on our party of 4 ordered Chinese, I ordered Brazilian and they knew we would be doing this as soon as we went in as we told them.

The Chinese food came out quick as you please, while I waited and waited and....waited. It just happened that the owner came by and noticed that I had NO food in front of me while everyone else in our party was finishing up their meals. She ran to the kitchen to check on my order and returned saying that the 'chef' did not think to look further than the Chinese meals portion of the order because of the Chinese characters - I guess it is highly unusual for a party to order BOTH Chinese and Brazilian. My meal came out within minutes after this.

At this point of course everyone else was completely finished with their meal. Every one of the three of them said they were displeased with their meals and did not want to return. I was very satisfied with my meal and would not hesitate to return for Brazilian.

I was very, very surprised the owner did not give at least a discount on our bill considering the circumstances, but we didn't say anything. We were served and we did eat the food, after all.

Oddly enough, whenever I meet my Brazilian wife for lunch we decide between going to a favorite Brazilian place down town or to Chinese. I guess if we went here we wouldn't need to make the decision until we got there! :)

Before you pass judgement on the place, Red Pepper has expanded the offerings to both Chinese and Brazilian food, but the restaurants are distinct. They are still the same Red Pepper on the main deck and the Brazilian restaurant is on the second floor, run by a differnet crew. Same with the kitchen, they use the same kitchen, but separate cooks and kitchen locations.
I am a regular Red Pepper customer, not an employee. :-)
Those who haven't tried Red Pepper are really missing a great experience in Chinese cuisine. Jennifer, the proprietor is trying very hard to please the tastes of the area, so give them a try - I think you'll like it! Mai Tais are dynamite as well.......
Sichuan Gourmet is also very good - you can't go wrong with either restaurant.
As for the Brazilian Restaurant upstairs, I haven't tried it so I can't comment. We now have a Fusion Restaurant in Framingham, which is very common to LA and California. Give them a shot!

That change is absurd! I have to agree with Eric, it sounds more like a move out of desperation than opportunity.

My one meal at Red Pepper was enough to make me stay away. The food was certainly spicy, which I like, but also incredibly incredibly salty. The deal breaker was the poor service. Not only is waiting 15 minutes for a waiter unacceptable, but watching a few different tables of Chinese customers seated 10 to 15 minutes after my party being waited on before us clinched it. That's downright rude.

I'll stick with Sichuan Gourmet, Framingham's hidden treasure.
