Is that a serious comment? People most certainly do walk down Rt 9 when the weather is good and, some people, out of necessity (or possibly insanity) even brave walking from place to place despite the cold and snow. This is Massachusetts after all, we can not just shut down our lives when the weather is poor… that accounts for somewhere around 4 months of the year after all.

I have to ask why would you want to walk along RT 9? I don’t see people walking when it isn’t snowing so why would they walk during a snow storm? The state and towns ask for people to stay home during this time. I think the town did a good job keeping the roads clear for Monday morning right away. All the schools in my area, Nobscot, were all cleared. I was a bit impressed myself. As for RT. 9, like I said why walk now when it isnt walked on in the good weather? The store owners should do a better job at keeping their areas cleaner, I agree. Maybe we should give out citations like other towns. Just a thought.

They never plow the sidewalk on Rte. 9. It’s as if one doesn’t exist after the first snowfall. And business make it worse as they plow all their parking lot snow right into the sidwalk too. Not one business shovels or plows out a walkway for anyone. Last winter a poor old lady nearly got hit trying to walk along the side of the road. Worse still, the breakdown lane disappears shortly down the street, so there’s no buffer between you and traffic if you should try to walk in the street. Something MUST be done about it. I do not recommend trying next year or EVER Michelle. There will be no usable sidwalks until February.

My son actually wrote a short story about walking in that vicinity (mostly Route 30) in a blizzard, and in fact it was published. Jon walks all over Framingham and frequently complains about the lack of sidewalks and the disregard for pedestrians. I don’t walk QUITE as much or as far as he does, but I’m a big walker, too, and I agree with him and with you. Michelle, from my residence to the Natick Collection/Framingham Shoppers World area is a hike. From your house…WOW…you’re quite the pedestrian!
