Shoppers World redesign? Have your say next week.

November 28th, 2012

I just spoke with someone from the GlobeWest today about the Metropolitan Area Planning Council‘s project to help redesign Route 9 to accommodate the foreseen growth in the next few years.  One of the areas they will focus on is the “Golden Triangle” and even Shoppers World layout.  The plan is to have the parking on the perimeter while the stores and a common area are in the center.  Sound familiar?  Good idea!
The MAPC is looking for feedback next week at the Callahan Center from 7-9pm there will be a meeting welcoming people to voice their opinions. You can read more about the meeting here in the article by the MWDN and by checking out the MAPC’s website. There will also be an article in the GlobeWest next week about this as well.
I kind of don’t care since I’m leaving Framingham but since I may stay in the area it’d be nice to see favorable changes to route 9 and Shoppers World since I currently avoid them.

  1. They need to make it a lifestyle center like Dedham

  2. I think the developers might have a thing or two to say about it. Unfortunately, looking at the layout now, it appears that the developer bulk-loaded all parking right in the middle, and built the shops on the outer perimeter of the property, leaving no room for parking around the plaza…

What this place really needs is a decent restaurant!

  3. Dedham is nice, but the parking is just a nightmare, and if you parked in the surface lot, trying to get out is like being a car in Frogger. Parking on the perimeter, pedestrian greenway in the center would be nice.

  6. From what I heard about the new layout, I think it can be better, like put a second story smaller stores, and THEN apartments. That way, smaller tenants can move in. Also, I would love to have a Domed building where TGI Fridays and the Olive Garden is currently located, where we could have like three or four restaurants instead of two there.

This would mix the new shoppers word with the old.

And by the way, I do believe that the road that exits from the shoppers world to the Flutie Pass should be a two way street. I shouldn’t have to miander my way into the place if I want to go from the Mall to Shoppers World, like having to turn right or left, then either going by Ring Road or Burr Street.
