We found Snipits to be way too overstimulating, but as my daughter has gotten older she has loved the birthday parties in the back room.
A great place for a calm kid's haircut is Styles & Smiles in that little shopping center on Old Ct. Path (the one that's slightly downhill from the road). Kid-sized chairs, videos, animal crackers and prizes, but blessedly un-frenzied.

My Girlie loves Snipits birthday parties. The girls all dress-up in fancy dresses, have their hair done and walk the red carpet.

As for hair cuts...My mummy taught me not to say anything if I didn't have anything good to say. Hopefully the staff at the Framingham store will be a little more experienced.

We've had the completely opposite experience with Snip Its. Our 2 year old is a complete nut when we go into any kind of store that isn't the Lego Store, but whenever we pass Snip Its, it's "Haircut! Pwease!" If he's due for one, then we'll stop in. He'll wait, get seated, sit with perfect posture in his chair, and quietly blow bubbles the entire time. With a smile on his face. I went into Snip Its the first time thinking "total gimmick"; but at least for us, it definitely works.

I took my three year old for her first haircut (finally) with Jane at The Hair Cuttery (not the chain as you know). And while my little one wouldn't sit in the chair she was happy enough to stand still and let Jane cut. I think with all of the stuff going on at Snip It's she would get over stimulated and end up just running around until she had a complete break down.
