I can't understand the reason for pouring into the streets when any sports team wins, even if it's the World Series or the Super Bowl. Are people hoping to get run over? Maybe it's that feeling of, "Ah, my favorite sports team X won the big Y. I can die now."

I made a policy years ago never to drive through downtown Framingham for any reason because of the all-day traffic bottlenecks. I'll cross town borders to get around it.

You think the police 'just allow it'? You have to be realistic- you're talking about hundreds of celebrating people. Even if every single police officer, sergeant, lieutenant etc were out there they'd still be outnumbered.

Personally I live and work downtown and I sort of like it. It's only once every 4 years and it's like a big party. And I'm not even Brazilian nor do I watch soccer. I do like crowds of people having fun, though.

The road construction is certainly stressful but all the projects will improve Framingham's infrastructure as well as helped create many jobs in the departments working on the projects.

I was subjected to that stupidity that was downtown Framigham on Tuesday. My issue is this.......when you win the actual CUP, then enjoy yourself, run through the dayum town butt-naked for all I care. But over winning their FIRST match-GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!! And the fine folks on the police dept. just allow it. Bringing the town to a standstill is acceptable now. If the Celtics win tonight, I want every Framingham resident on the streets, blocking the driveways to Bazilian shops and homes and I better not see ONE person arrested for disturbing the peace.

I don't think I can remember a WORSE year for road construction and traffic backups in Framingham that this one! Concord ST is particularly bad, especially in between Hartford ST. and the Concord ST Dunkin' Donuts. During "World Cup" time it IS always smart to avoid downtown Framingham. Hundreds of excited Brazilians spill into the streets downtown, and the whole area grinds to a standstill.

FYI - if anyone needs more information about the construction projects going on around town, visit www.buildingframingham.com. It answers many questions about what, when and where road construction is happening. There is also a section where you can sign up to receive alerts about all or just specific projects.
