Vera’s Deli
September 25th, 2007
Last night we got subs for the first time at Vera’s Market and Deli in the Trolley Square Plaza.
Ethan got a steak and cheese and I got eggplant parm. Both were pretty good. The only thing was I chose the eggplant because on the menu it said it’s grilled eggplant which I thought would be good to try instead of the typical fried eggplant but when I unwrapped the sandwich at home, it was in fact fried eggplant. Not a huge deal since it was good anyway but a little disappointing for that reason only. They have a good variety of sandwiches on their menu and offer salads too.
Ethan’s steak and cheese:

The eggplant looked a little dry at first but when I opened it up it was nice and mushy with sauce and cheese.

It’s a nice little market that has all the standard items like drinks, kitchen necessities magazines etc…
The owner of Vera’s was busted a few months ago selling bongs and pipes behind the counter so if you like to get stoned this is the place for you!!! I did have a turkey sub there once and it was okay.

I work right next door and walk here maybe 1-2 times per week for lunch. A good reliable sandwich. My favorites ones (by menu name): Heaven, the Bostonian, Smoked All the Way, and the King. Usually $5 and change for a sandwich. They have a frequent customer card, by 10 get one free, but only if you ask. Nice employees. To switch it up, Kugel’s around the corner is good too.

Michelle, it’s possible that they buy their egglplant cutlets frozen, already fried, and then cook them on their flat-top grill, hence the “grilled” name. I agree though, very misleading. Glad the sandwich was good.
