White Hardware- A “real” hardware store

January 28th, 2007

I feel like my mother that I add a “S” to the name “White” when think of this place (seems like it should be “White’s not just “White”)  My mom sometimes adds a “S” to names that shouldn’t have it like calling Lechmere “Lechmere’s” (irrelevant now, I know, but that came to mind first).

The outside of the building boasts the slogan “A ‘real’ hardware store”.  I’m not a hardware expert but it seems that this is true.  They are a no-frills hardware store. can you put ivermectin in cats ears   I get what I want and then there is no reason to make a day of it so I leave.  I compare it to Home Depot in the way that there is not 10,000 sq. foot garden center to walk around in, there are no “you-can-do-it!” classes and no Dunkin Donuts at the entrance. liquid ivermectin heartworm prevention
Not to mention the refreshingly small but always adequate parking lot, although one of the plusses about White Hardware is that it is walkable from my house.

I think the staff is generally nice, the first time I went in there I remember it was not a pleasant experience but then I had to get something else there and the people were friendly. oral ivermectin for finches   This was the case the second and third time I went in there so I’ll chalk up my first experience as a random bad day.
They have been very helpful with suggestions and this store is nice to have around when I’m not in the mood to battle Rt. 9 on a weekend, remember what row I parked in and wander through the warehouse of Home Depot, although sometimes I am.  Sometimes I’m actually in the mood for looking at 20 versions of the same product but it’s also nice to have something small close by that I can just run in and out of.

Pizza Quest: Whole Foods

January 24th, 2007

Last night I decided to see if Whole Food’s new (well a few months old now) house pizza was any good.

They sell it by the pound or by the whole pie but I wanted to bring home a little tasting so I got a few different pieces. birds ivermectin

I got prosciutto and fig, buffalo chicken, pepperoni and plain cheese.

The prosciutto and fig was interesting, it was sweet from the figs and salty from the prosciutto.

Ethan thought the buffalo chicken would have been better with white meat and I would agree that it was a little disapointing that they used dark meat for that.

The pepperoni had plenty of large circles that covered the slice and tasted like what a pepperoni should taste like. durvet ivermectin pour on dewormer 250ml in aurora colorado

The Cheese was probably the best next to the prosciutto and fig. Simple but satisfying.

The people working there are very friendly and happy to explain how buying pound vs pie works and that on the weekends after 5 you can buy one pie and get a second for half off.
They heat it up for you if you want and will cut from the middle if you don’t want a lot of crust.

Final thought:  Not bad, the crust was nice and crunchy, which I like. ivermectin reviews for dogs   The dough for this style of pizza might have complimented it more if it were thinner but it’s pretty good.  It probably won’t be the first place I think of to get pizza but maybe as a treat for the prosciutto once in a while.

The best television on television!

Flipping through the channels last night I came across our new cable access again, not that I counted it out because of the victrola but I usually forget to even check what’s on there or I just never happen to catch anything that keeps me there for a while unless I count Jim Pillsbury’s last show which I was so mesmerized by I didn’t even answer my phone. (Note to self: Never tick-off Jim Pillsbury)

To my surprise there was a documented trip to Shoppers World in it’s final days.  The program’s host talked about it’s glorious past and a little about it’s “warehouse” future and took the viewer on a tour inside and out. ?????? ?????? 2022

I think this was such a great use for Framingham public access and just goes to show there really is something for everyone on it.  The more local people get involved in it the better it will be. ????? ???? ???????   I’m still thinking of a show to contribute myself. ????

If anyone is interested,”Shopper’s World- A Look Back” is on again at 6pm tonight(1/21) and 11am tomorrow.

The Chicken Man

January 20th, 2007

Recently I’ve noticed a guy working for the new Chicken Bone dressed up as a chicken at various corners on Edgell/Main/Pleasant/High streets (overpass of Route 9) It was too dark out to take a picture the first time  I saw him but today I was at a stoplight and took a picture (the crappy camera phone was all I had at the time).
When he saw I was taking a picture of him he turned to me and started dancing.  (His shirt reads “the chicken man”)

I’m still getting over a vicious cold and tried not to laugh since that would start a coughing fit but I had to give in, I think it was as entertaining for him to watch me laugh and cough while taking a picture.  I wish I got video of him, I give kudos for this guy dancing around on a cold windy day like today, espcially to promote a downtown business! ??? ?????? ??????

Welcome back!

I drove by the old 400 restaurant (for those who never have been, is at the Franklin street plaza) and saw they are finally almost ready to open. This seems to be taking so long to open since it was supposed to be open in September. I heard it is going to be the same menu as the old restuarant. I hope the eggplant parm is just as good. This will be so great so have something I can walk to from my house and possibly liven up “sad plaza”.

Finally something going in the right direction on our side of town!

I was at a friend’s house watching TV and we decided to check out the “new” cable access channel three.  Broadcasting was a shot of a Victrola playing some old music- maybe from the 1920’s or 30’s.  We thought it was just filler for in between shows but whenever we’d flip back to channel three it was still going.  We thought after 30 minutes it would stop but the timer kept ticking and went for a full hour.
We laughed because we thought it was kind of boring to broadcast for an hour but then I thought I it must not be if someone is into that music, and it’s nice someone wants to share that with the public but, is it worth watching a record spin on TV?  Is it meant just to have on while you’re doing other things around the house? But then you’d just listen to the radio, right?  I thought maybe I wouldn’t think it was so silly if it was playing a Journey record (which of course someone else would think is boring) but I don’t know.
I’m guessing this program is simply for someone to share their love of this kind of music, which is nice and I’m sure if I had a better idea I’d propose it to the station.  I did jokingly think of having my own show and imagined how bad it would be when I saw the posting of air time availability for cable access, but that got put on the back burner.  Maybe some day!

Just curious if anyone has some favorite shows because I’d be interested to know what shows are popular.
