Halloween Express

September 27th, 2007

Last night we went to Halloween Express which has taken over the space at 303 Worcester Rd.
This place is great, it’s huge inside and has everything you could possibly want for Halloween, costumes, wigs, props, decorations, party stuff, life-size animated ghouls etc.. ??? ???? ?????

A very impressive selection  and the staff  there were happy to help with any questions.  There was a glowing, blinking pair of eyes you can put in a shrub that we could have got  if we still had this giant shrub next to our front door but I got some good ideas for decorations just walking around. ??????? ???? 2022   I’ll definitely be back in the next couple of weeks! ????? ??????? ???? ?????? 2024

No excuse for not knowing

Nothing exciting, but Ethan and I were waiting at the intersection of Temple St. and Rt. 9 and we noticed there are three Street signs to identify Temple St. ??? ????? at one corner.  Just thought it was a little funny.

Dennison Tour

September 20th, 2007

I don’t know if I have mentioned it before but, once a month there is a meeting of the Framingham Downtown Renaissance committee.  I guess anyone can go since I started attending months before I became a town meeting member.  They are great meetings to go to.  Whenever I feel questionable about downtown and the fact that I live here, I feel so much better after attending these meetings.  It’s great to see there are people working on actual projects to improve downtown and plans are in the works to solve a variety of issues.  Also, it’s a great way to just know what is going on in the area. ??? ????? payeer
We usually meet in the memorial building but today the Dennison Condos invited the group to meet there and give us a tour. There were the usual FDR people (although minus Rev. Bob who introduced me to these meetings) as well as realtors and Susan Brickman from the Metrowest Daily News. I thought it was funny that before the meeting started she made a point to go around with her notebook and ask every single person who they were and what their affiliation was except for me, probably because I was the youngest in the room and wearing my windbreaker and bike pants (because I had to go to work right from there) she didn’t seem to have an interest in what someone looking like I did was doing there.
The hosting realtors were a husband and wife team that were very nice and answered all my questions.  Apparently the condos will take over the building right next to them which currently houses SMOC. ????? ???   Where SMOC is going I don’t know but I thought it was interesting that they’ll be out of that space in a year or so.
Here’s a little of what we saw:

I really wish this place the best.  It’s a crummy market right now and I know people have their problems with this place, some which I agree with, but these units look nice and it would be great for downtown if these took off. ????? ???? ?????? 2022   Kudos to the people who invested the money into building these and I hope it will be a part of a downtown revitalization.

Cut it out!

It’s not too often I make a $#@% list post but lately we’ve had an overnight visitor that rips up our yard.
I’m guessing whatever it is looking for grubs and we’ve tried grub treatment but that doesn’t seem to work. ??? ????? ????????   Then we went to the Framer’s Exchange and got some fox urine (I didn’t even know that was a product until this issue), that didn’t work so then we tried going a step up and using coyote urine.  Whatever it was just went to town on the lawn and even left a poop like it was trying to tell us that what it thought of our scare tactics. ????? ???? ????? 2023
We didn’t have this problem last year so I’m not really sure what’s going on but if anyone knows any good tricks for repelling things that dig up yards or really good grub killer, I’d love to hear it.

Slade Animal Hospital

September 17th, 2007

It was time to take our cat, Clyde to the vet for the first time since we’ve had him.  I go by Slade all the time and figured it was close and looked like a nice building so we brought him there. ????? ?????

The inside was nice and clean and didn’t like some other vet offices I’ve been in. ???? ????????   The receptionist was really nice and there is plenty of seating so we sat clyde down (in his carrier) where he meowed and stared at some dogs until the doctor was ready to see him.

The doctor was nice and honest, I didn’t feel like she tried to talk us into any shots or treatments Clyde didn’t need and was cool and patient with Clyde even though he wasn’t at his most charming. casino888

I was happy with our experince here (although I can’t say the same for Clyde) and it helps to only have a 2 minute drive since Clyde hates the car too.

No Loitering

September 12th, 2007

While waiting at the stoplight by the Salvation Army, I noticed that they placed potted trees at the base of the windows.  The base has a little shelf-like area that was popular for people to hang out on.
Before:

After:

I thought it was interesting because I didn’t think the Salvation Army thought that much about how the outside looked.
I wonder if people will just move the trees and sit there anyway.
