Walgreens now open
September 6th, 2007
It seemed like it took a long time for the new Walgreens on 624 Waverly St. to open.Β I didn’t even realize it was open until I thought of checking up on it’s progress.
It’s right on the outskirts of downtown, but I think it’s a great addition to the area, it’s an alright looking building, that is clean and a store that I have business going to.
I was impressed with their Halloween display, complete with hanging caged ghouls.
Most impressive was their drink selection.Β I think they had every drink that is currently available (except TAB) Little things like that really make a difference (especially when I’m thirsty)
I guess I have to say this is a “yay” even though it’s just a drug store, I’m glad it’s there and think it’s good for the area.
Oh yea thats all we need… another generic looking chain buisness …dont we have enough of these already…lets see saxonville…rte 9…and now downtown…whats next nobscott…..I miss the days of the mom and pop pharmacy’s….

At least the brazilian store had some character too it…every single walgreens looks alike…just like cvs,, stop and shop and walmart….

Well, maybe we can agree that Walgreens isn’t the neatest, most progressive thing to open downtown, but let’s face it, for this part of town, it’s downright a good sign.
What it really means is that Walgreens’ marketing gurus determined that this was a viable spot to do a lot of business. Now that it’s there, and hopefully successful, other businesses may choose to drop anchor in the vicinity as well.
Would I prefer a great restaurant (or even a Starbucks)? Sure. But clearly the neigborhood isn’t ready for that.
Walgreens is a decent start.

The Brazilian store did have a lot of character, you could pick up some drugs illegally and maybe a nice fake Mass ID card. Now that is one stop shopping for our wondeful “undocumented” guests. I’m no big fan of Walgreens or CVS but at least they pay taxes and obey the law.

“Edward” “Juan” and “Bill” are all the same IP address. He is a previous poster who doesn’t understand the lighthearted intention of this blog and posts unnecessarily negative comments and sometimes uses porn-star aliases.
I’m all for people giving their opinions here but Mr. multi-personality is just looking for a fight (over walgreens) and again, if he got the intention behind this blog he would realize he’s wasting his time.
Thanks to people who understand and can find something good about a business investing in a part of Framingham that could use it.
Anyone who reads this blog knows that I’m a supporter of local business but I really think this is an improvement to the abandoned car lot that it was for so long. So yay! : )

I just happened to stop there tonight to see if they were open and ended up going in. I, too, am happy to see Walgreens there, as opposed to another empty store front. I, too, miss the mom and pop chains, but those days are over. It’s nice to see a business invest in the downtown area. It’s a start.

hope in the Spring, that Walgreens will have some kind of a lawn and some trees. There is lots of macadam around the building. folks from the north side even patronize this facility. they dislike fighting traffic on route 9.
even i travel to the southside to Market Basket. a real treat. Go the back way from union ave, up dudley road,downto waverly,cross over to mellen, to winthrop,to dow and back onto hollis to market basket.
come over …you will like it.
