Walsh School 5k Road Race

May 28th, 2008

My friend Yana’s husband, who is a teacher at Walsh Middle School, helps to organize a 5K for a cause each year.
This year, the students were given a survey of organizations to help and chose the MSPCA (Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals)

Proceeds from this race help our furry friends find homes, get medical care, be treated humanely and live full lives.

Hiiii-ya!

May 26th, 2008

I occasionally think about what I would do if I got mugged or attacked.  I’ve heard of things you can do like walk with your keys in between your fingers and use that to accentuate a punch but I’ve wondered “What IS the best way to kick an attacker in the crotch?”
It just so happened that I got an email informing me about a free Women’s Self Defense workshop this Wednesday at 8pm.  I’m really looking forward to it and since it’s open to the public, I thought there might be some other ladies out there who might be interested. ivermectine kopen aliexpress

Papa Gino’s on 135

May 19th, 2008

I think I’ve only been to the Papa Gino’s on 135 once before, just for take-out and that’s what we went here for last night.  I always forget about this Papa’s but I think I realised last night why.

It’s not horrible but I felt like it’s not the  full Papa experience like we get at the Route 30 Papa Gino’s.

There is a more modern theme inside, no faux checkerboard table cloth prints on the tables and the pizza was just okay – even for Papa Gino’s which I have mentioned before isn’t amazing but comfortably consistent – not so much at this location. ????? ???????
The inside is kind of tight and narrow:

I forgot to take pictures of the pizza but it was like a poor-man’s version of Papa Gino’s except it was actually from here.  That’s the only way I can describe it, sorry for the lack of documentation. ????? ??? ?????? 2024

The one redeeming quality of this location is the video game in the back which is a combination of Ms Pac-Man, Frogger and Galaga.

Since the death of Fun and Games (in my mind anway) it would be for this reason that I may find myself here again one night with a rootbeer and a pocket full of quarters.  If they had Donkey Kong, or a pinball machine,  it would be two pockets : )

Pro Wrestling Comes To Framingham!

May 16th, 2008

Next Friday night “Chikara” is making it’s Massachusetts debut at the Framingham Civic League. What is Chikara?  A Philadelphia-based, pro-wrestling organization that is family friendly and combines elements of the Mexican Lucha Libre and Japanese wrestling styles.  It has been described as a “comic book come to life”.
Some of their featured wrestlers:

Chikara contacted me to tell me about their event and offered an interview with their wrestler “Lightening” Mike  Quackenbush!
Here’s some Q&A where I display my fantastic interviewing skills:

How did Chikara decide on Framingham for it’s MA debut?—Framingham just seemed like the perfect fit for us in terms of size; not too big, not too small.

Why did you get into wrestling and did you have a role model?—I got into pro-wrestling during my high school days, and I idolized Jushin Liger, a Japanese wrestler with incredible skill and grace. I was already making money in wrestling by the time I got to college, and it just took over my life from that point on.

Do you have a signature move?—I am lucky enough to have a few. My “Lightning Lock” submission hold is a lot like tying my opponent into a pretzel until they must submit.

What do you listen to when you’re working out?—My taste in music is slightly dated. I listen to a lot of 80’s bands -Talking Heads, Squeeze, Simply Red, Crowded House, Naked Eyes, that sort of thing.

Who was the most challenging wrestler you’ve been in the ring with?—Back in 2002, not far from Framingham, in fact, I wrestled the late, great Eddie Guerrero shortly after his departure from the WWE. Just keeping up with him was exhausting.

Do you have a lucky pair of tights?—Not really, but I know some guys are very superstitious when it comes to those things.

What’s your favorite snack?—I’m a Creamsicle man, myself. There are just never enough in the freezer it seems.

But wait, there’s more!Chickara would like to offer a pair of tickets for some lucky person to go see the awesomeness of Aniversarioma, so I have set up a contest (sort of) where I will randomly pick a reader who comments to this post.  The winner of the tickets will be picked on 5/22.For more info check out their site: chikarapro.com

Film on the V

May 14th, 2008

There a couple of guys who have a myspace page dedicated to their efforts on making a film about our beloved V66.  I made a post about “The V” a while ago but I just wanted to post about this in case anyone has contributions they’d like to make.

There is a short video on their page explaining their mission. worms that look like ivermectin
