Game Universe

August 8th, 2006

I think it was somewhat recently this store, Game Universe, opened on Route 9. I read about it somewhere because otherwise I’d never have known about it.
The store front doesn’t really stand out but it’s next to EO Noodle, then you go down stairs to the basement and there are games set up like a video store.
There’s a section further back with large flat screens for pre-teen/teen kids to play the more modern games.  And they have a follow-the-dancestep game that I am never brave enough to try.  No classic arcade games there : (

They sell all sorts of video game cartridges and since I recently acquired a free Atari 2600 I figured I’d check out any classics they have.  Sure enough they had my all time favorite, Pitfall- in the box!

The box wasn’t in great condition but it wasn’t any more expensive than Pitfall without the box, plus it came with the original pamphlet so for $5 that was a great deal.
I also got Frogger for $5 too.

My only wish was that they played up the whole basement location and made it look like someone’s basement with fake wood paneling and late70’s plaid sofas or something as kind of an “homage” to the era of when home video games were born.
Also, they have their offices and warehouse in downtown and I wish they had opened their store in downtown to bring a fun business there but what can you do.

Tropic Isle

August 6th, 2006

I love this place, they have everything you could want for your aquarium needs.  I bought a turtle there years ago but they have since stopped selling reptiles. kobe ivexterm   It’s a really great place just to go and look around though even if you don’t have a fish tank.  There is always a team of people maintaining all the tanks and in the past I have found the employees to really know their stuff.
They used to have sea horses, I didn’t see any on this visit but they had amazing saltwater fish, including starfish. ivermectin and demodex

And I leanred that some fish like zucchini!

Chicken Bone Saloon

July 24th, 2006

One of my favorite places to eat (or get take out) in Framingham is the Chicken Bone Saloon on Waverly St.
Even though it can have a tough looking crowd, the employees have always been amazingly pleasant, even when I call in an order and I can hear how insane it is in there, they’re still so nice.  As a former waitress who sometimes took take-out orders, I feel if you’re going to place an order over the phone you should know what you want, order it clearly, hear the total/pick up time and hang up.One time when I ordered, I didn’t have some sort of info like knowing what heat Ethan wanted his wings or something like that which took me a few seconds to find out and apologized because I felt like such a hypocrite. ivermectin dose for 75 kg man   The woman taking my order said no problem even though I could hear the other phone ringing and from the background noise it was packed in there. ivermectin medikament   She told me someone earlier had called and asked “what do you have there? ivermectina y azitromicina ” and then insisted they be read the whole menu over the phone, of course she didn’t have time for that and said she hung up after two volleys of  “yes you will- no I won’t”.  That was nice of her to tell me the little story so I didn’t feel bad.  It is a little dark in there but I think it wouldn’t be the same if it were well lit.  They have a stage for free live music, a pinball machine and darts. The wings (I get boneless) are some of the best I’ve ever had.  I’m always torn between ordering buffalo or the honey mustard dip. They’re both excellent.  Great fries too.
Another “yay” in Framingham.

Fun and Games

July 12th, 2006

enter!
Last night we went out to Fun and Games (or Fun and Drugs, as we used to call it in middle/high school) I haven’t been in there since the 80’s.  I was kind of disappointed that they didn’t have more classic games but it was still fun.
games
I always liked the entrance that feels like space you’re walking into a spaceship.
The biggest challenge of the night was playing MTV’s Drumscape where you try to drum along to a song. I like how they have real songs, by the real bands to drum to. I attempted to “jam!” (as the game says before you start) to “Round and Round” by Ratt .
Ethan is leaps and bounds above me in drumming ability, I felt like a 5 year old randomly pounding away with no rhythm or skill.  At the end of the song it plays a roaring applause and screams like you just finished a concert. I feel I didn’t deserve the simulated cheer, I guess it’s better than it knowing you can’t keep up with the song and hearing boos from the audience.
Pinball is always good too, I wish they had more than three but maybe I’m just used to the seemingly endless selection of pinball games at Funspot, which is really the only other arcade I go to(when I’m in the area).
I’m surprised Fun and Games is still open, never mind open until 9pm (10pm on weekends) but I’m glad they are. It’s one of the few Rt. businesses that are there from when I was a kid.

Sullivan Tire

July 11th, 2006

it's a-nice!
I used to cringe when I had to get my oil changed.  It seems like it should be simple but it never is, they always end up telling you (especially if you’re a girl) something is way wrong with the radiator or the PVC valve or the flux capacitor
I used to go to Valvoline quick change until they really started slacking on the service. One of many examples:  I asked them to check the air pressure in the tires (even though they’re supposed to do that anyway) and the guy went to each of my tires with the air hose and just did a two second “tssst” on each tire.  I was thinking  “There’s no way he could unscrew the cap, look at the pressure and properly fill it that fast” but I was hopeful that maybe I was just so unskilled at pressure checking that it takes me 3 times longer than this guy. I get home and sure enough I’m riding on 24 pounds per tire. The guy FAKED checking my tires!
Anyway, when I moved to Framingham I got the little packet of coupons and there was one for a free oil change at Sullivan Tire, right down the street. maximum doseage of ivermectin for a dog   Nice, but I don’t usually like using coupons because then the people behind the counter typically sigh and act like they can’t believe you’re using the coupon and you feel like a cheap jerk. ivermectin drops for cat ears   But that didn’t happen this time!  I was pleasantly surprised the guy behind the counter almost seemed happy I brought in the coupon.  When they told me my car was ready they didn’t tell me anything was wrong with my car and told me to have a good day.  I hate to say it but, I was so suspicious that I waited for the old busted hose or something going awry a few days later but it never happened. how safe is ivermectin use o in dogs  Now I bring my car there for all my oil changes and they’re always nice.

Score!

Can you believe this was free?

I was on my way home from La Cantina and saw a cardboard box on a curb that read “Atari 2600 w/ games, works FREE”.  Normally there’s never any good free stuff on curbs but this was an amazing find, I couldn’t beleive it!!  I got home, cleaned it up, and in no time I was jumping barrels and eating pellets!
What a treat that was, thanks fellow framinghamite- who ever you are!

A pleasant dentist experience!

July 3rd, 2006

dr. chen's
Last week I had my first visit to a new dentist, Dr. Sharon Chen on Concord Street.
I was so surprised I left a dentist in a good mood. ????? ??   Everyone from the guy at the desk to the assistants were so nice.  Everything in the office is brand new and clean, I was just really impressed.
Also, the cover for the fluorescent lights above the patient’s chair has a scene of blue sky and kites so you have something pleasant to look at while you get your mouth scraped out. Very nice.
