An alternative to corporate coffee coming soon!

March 25th, 2008

I doubt Starbucks will fret but, across the street from the Starbucks (by Whole Foods) at the “Ski Market” plaza on Rt. 9 will be an upscale coffee shop.  The “coming soon” sign is up and I know they’ve been putting a lot of work into the interior so I’m excited to have a coffee shop nearby that is neither StarB’s or Dunkins and a small business.  I’ll be sure to post when they open and I make a visit there. vermectin (Stromectol is stromectol over the counter

No!

A source has informed me that White Hardware in the Franklin St. (sad) Plaza is going out of business (after 80 frickin years! ivermectin cattle strongyles ).
As I mentioned in my previous post about this store, I enjoyed having it near my house and it’s pleasantly simple shopping experience.  I’m sad to see a small business close and also add to the sadness of sad plaza.
I hope something useful will move into this space but I won’t be surprised if the building remains vacant for years either. dosis de ivermectina adultos
We will miss ye, White Hardware.  Thanks for being there when we needed you!

Bronzetti’s is open!

March 17th, 2008

Finally Bronzetti’s has opened!
It was like waiting for Christmas (or Hanukkah) but the day finally arrived. ??????? ?? ????? ?????   It’s very much a mom and pop kind of place as the waitstaff must be family members and don’t wear uniforms but let you know when you walk in they’re there to serve you.  Our waitress was very nice and another woman (Mrs. ???? ????? ??? ???? Bronzetti?) check up on us as well to make sure everything was alright.
We started off sharing a caesar salad which  they were nice enough to split onto two separate plates and were decent sized even as halves.

Then the piece de resistance: We got a half plain, half onion pizza:

The dough was nice and crispy on the bottom and the cheese perfectly browned on the crust.  It’s just so good and was worth the wait!
Bronzetti’s is at 250 Worcester Rd., behind (but in the same building as) PC Health stop

Callahan State Park

March 12th, 2008

I’ve already posted about our first visit to Callahan State Park last summer, but I found some pictures I took from our visit a few weeks ago and thought I’d post them.

Callahan is just as nice to walk through with snow as is it with green grass.  It’s always nice to see the doggies run around and have fun.  Although, like in the summer, we found poop on the trails- I guess some people will just never pick up their dog’s poop.  Maybe if it was in the woods, away from the trail, okay but I think it’s pretty lame to let your dog take a dump right in the middle of the path.  ‘Nuff said.

Other than that it’s a lovely place to walk around and a real treat to have in Framingham.

Joes’s American Bar and Grill

March 9th, 2008

We decided to be adventurous and go to Shopper’s World (cough cough) on a Saturday to try Joe’s American Bar and Grill.  I think(?) I went to one years ago just for drinks and although I’m usually not a fan of chain restaurants, it’s kind of local with most of their places in Massachusetts and only two reaching as far down as New Jersey (and I’ve heard it was a decent place).
We were greeted by the manager who was very polite and professional as was the hostess who sat us and our server.
It was a rainy, windy day so we felt like getting some thing warm and satisfying.  My interior picture didn’t come out so well but I liked the dark wood and vintage-looking lighting they have.
I got a grilled meatloaf sandwich that was served on challah bread with a side of horseradish sauce.  It comes w/ a peppercorn mayo but I loathe pepper so I asked if I could switch that for something else and the server was very nice about it.

Now, looking at this, I wish I took a better picture but this was a great sandwich.  Nice and toasty on the outside, hot sliced meatloaf on the inside and the hand-cut fries were oh so nice.

Ethan got a Bacon Cheeseburger.  It looks a little mauled because the sever asked him if he wouldn’t mind cutting into it to make sure it was cooked to the temperature he asked (it was).  Ethan said the burger was very good and thought the cheese was “very cheddary”.

This meal really hit the spot, but what really made an impression was after we left and were buckling up in the car, the manager appeared with Ethan’s hat that he forgot inside.  I thought that was really above and beyond since it was a total downpour outside and he didn’t even have a menu over his head or anything to protect himself from the rain – he just ran out to make sure Ethan got his hat.  That was really nice, so all around we had a good experience here.

It’s here!

March 5th, 2008

Thisisframingham.com will stay here and still relate to all things Framingham but I’ve decided to give the Metrowest area a turn to shine as well.  Bear with me as this gets started.  Towns will show up in the category section as I post about them so if a town you’re looking for isn’t there, I just haven’t posted about it yet (but I will!).
Thanks for the support these past couple of years from all of you who have emailed me and commented on the blog.  A special thanks to Ethan for being such a good sport when I take out my camera at dinner and helping me edit posts.
Feel free to let me know about any of your favorite Metrowest places you think deserve a vist.
Cheers!

Laura’s Cakes

March 1st, 2008

Laura Anes is a cake maker who lives and works in Framingham and was gracious enough to let me come over to talk with her and see one of her amazing works of art she just made for a baby shower.

We sat down and she showed me pictures of a bunch of cakes she has made. 22bet   Each one is different depending on what the occasion and theme is and I had a great time looking at all of them. Besides being an incredibly nice person she’s really talented and can pretty much make anything. bqout  Here are some of my favorites:

Laura has edible paper and edible ink so she can make logos and photos for the cakes too.  I would love to have a reason for her to make a Bradlees cake!   She was also nice enough to make a little cake for me to bring home and share with Ethan which was delicious:
