Chicken Bone Saloon

July 24th, 2006

One of my favorite places to eat (or get take out) in Framingham is the Chicken Bone Saloon on Waverly St.
Even though it can have a tough looking crowd, the employees have always been amazingly pleasant, even when I call in an order and I can hear how insane it is in there, they’re still so nice.  As a former waitress who sometimes took take-out orders, I feel if you’re going to place an order over the phone you should know what you want, order it clearly, hear the total/pick up time and hang up.One time when I ordered, I didn’t have some sort of info like knowing what heat Ethan wanted his wings or something like that which took me a few seconds to find out and apologized because I felt like such a hypocrite. ivermectin dose for 75 kg man   The woman taking my order said no problem even though I could hear the other phone ringing and from the background noise it was packed in there. ivermectin medikament   She told me someone earlier had called and asked “what do you have there? ivermectina y azitromicina ” and then insisted they be read the whole menu over the phone, of course she didn’t have time for that and said she hung up after two volleys of  “yes you will- no I won’t”.  That was nice of her to tell me the little story so I didn’t feel bad.  It is a little dark in there but I think it wouldn’t be the same if it were well lit.  They have a stage for free live music, a pinball machine and darts. The wings (I get boneless) are some of the best I’ve ever had.  I’m always torn between ordering buffalo or the honey mustard dip. They’re both excellent.  Great fries too.
Another “yay” in Framingham.

Kugel’s

Kugel's
Last week my mother and I went to Kugel’s at Trolley Square/Framingham Center.  I always think of this place as the poor man’s Joan and Ed’s Deli, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture until half way through the meal but mom and I split a bagel with lox spread, a side of whitefish salad, a fruit bowl and meat knishes.
The whitefish salad was really good and the knishes were decent.
As much as I hate to admit it, Joan and Ed make the best knishes.
Kugel’s is good and close (to me) and I’ve never waited long or at all for a table.
Oh, their kugel is good too

All aboard the pizza wagon!

July 9th, 2006

pizza wagon!
Tonight we were in the mood for pizza, first we went to “Centre Pizza” but found a note on the door saying they were on vacation.  Then I remembered my friend Phil telling me (a few years ago) that the Pizza Wagon (on School St.) has “the best” pizza in Framingham, so we went there.  While we waited we checked out the risque mural on the wall.
I don’t usually drink soda but every now and then I crave a Pepsi. I only want a little bit though and most places don’t sell singles of those mini-cans.  I could buy a regular bottle and only drink half but I know I’ll end up drinking the whole thing if it’s there I know it’s stupid but that’s just how I deal with soda.  Ethan can drink a whole 2 liter of Coke with no problem but that’s a whole other story.
We went next door to Makari’s Market and to my surprise they had the little midget-bottles of Pepsi and Coke.  Perfect size, nice!
cute!
I also wanted to say that they guy behind the counter was really nice and called me “sweetie”-not in a sleazy, I-want-to-go-home-and-take-a-shower way but more like I was a regular customer even though it was my first visit in there.
Saying “sweetie” sounds like a small detail but it’s so different than most retail transactions, I just thought it was kind of nice.
The pizza was decent, I wouldn’t say it’s “the best” but I’d go back.  I’m still looking for amazing or at least really, really good pizza in Framingham.

Hotdogs and ice cream

July 1st, 2006

This afternoon we decided to try Hometown Hotdogs in Saxonville.
It wasn’t amazing, but it wasn’t bad either, the fries were pretty good.
Nothing outrageous, but if you want a hotdog and fries it fits the bill.

Later my friend and I went to try Mad Willies in Framingham center.
They have a lot of choices of ice cream and toppings.
They also have a freezer when you walk in to get ice cream cakes and homemade
ice cream cookie sandwiches.  I got chocolate frozen yogurt with marshmallow, which looks kind of soupy and my friend got chocolate brownie something. Of course I couldn’t leave without getting Ethan a treat for home so I got him a sundae with strawberries and fresh whipped cream that they make daily (according to the sign).
The girls at the counter weren’t the friendliest, but I guess scooping ice cream all day in the summer might get them, who knows.

Night on the town

June 28th, 2006

Last night we went out for a little Chinese food at Imperial China and ice cream at Gerard Farms.

Although we didn’t order it last night, pupu
Imperial China has great chicken with eggplant and they’re the only place I know that will make fried rice with brown rice.  We just got some cocktails and a pupu platter – oh and some vegetables to make it a “healthy” meal. is ivermectin tablets safe for humans

After that we went to Gerard Farms, which I’ve never been to before.  My friend, who likes their chicken pot pies brought it to my attention. how far apart canninguve double strongid and ivermectin   I know, I’m out of the loop.  I tried the kahlua brownie and Ethan got cookies and cream. comprimido para escabiose
I didn’t try his, but the kahlua brownie was really, really good.

These images were stuck in my mind when I decided to drag myself out of bed and go to the gym this morning.

You’re not so bad

sampan
My sister and I used to joke about how sketchy Sampan looks and how horrible the food must be, even though we had nothing to support our assumptions.  After 20 or so years of joking about it, I found myself in there one night ordering take-out.
The inside was pretty worn, but typical of many Chinese restaurants I’ve been in.  I have to say I was pleasantly surprised that the food wasn’t too bad.  It wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it wasn’t the worst either.
I had to call my sister, who doesn’t even live in Massachusetts anymore that I finally tried it and it wasn’t so scary. She still says she’d never go in there but I feel better that I know it’s not quite the seedy establishment we made it out to be all these years.

I didn’t even get to say goodbye

June 21st, 2006

we hardly knew ye!
A true Framingham tragedy! In December this Friendly’s on Union Ave closed all of the sudden.  I drove by it on my way home one day and the sign read “Thank you Framingham” and was shut down. ivermectin india delta   I never even got to have a farewell Fribble! ivermectin tablet ip 12 mg uses in hindi
This stinks because it was in walking distance of my house and on a hot day after doing hours of yard work there was no greater reward than walking down the street to get a well-deserved cone. ivermectina em excesso
Hopefully this won’t become an addition to the many vacant stores in Framingham but nothing seems to be happening with it.

Good bye old friend(ly’s)
