Former Bickford’s going Mexican

September 28th, 2009

I was going by the old Bickford’s last week and noticed the “For Lease” sign was gone and some guys out in the parking lot with some sort of equipment, I forget if it was a table saw, but something like that.
I looked up the address to see if there were any work permits out for this location on the town website. Looks like this will be a Mexican restaurant called La Caretta.  Not sure if it will be related to the small La Caretta chain in New Hampshire but it’s something different and maybe a good (late) replacement for anyone missing Chi-Chi’s that used to be across the street. I’m glad to see it will be another restaurant anyway.

  1. Another Mexican restaurant always welcome.
I like Aztec Restaurant in Framingham.
    My wife likes Acapulcos.
We currently go to Los Compadres

  2. Have fun at Los Compadres, you will probably end up being robbed or stabbed there. They serve to minors, that place is bad news.

The Aztez is the best, the people are nice, the food is good, and the prices are unbeatable.

Acapulcos is good and a more expensive version or The Aztec.

  3. Yes - a quick Google search revealed that it is owned by the same as the three restaurants in New Hampshire. Very exciting to have an option for family run Mexican in town. Their margaritas get good reviews.

  4. Yes it is affiliated with the La Carreta chain. I spoke to the owner recently and he told me he had restaurants in New Hampshire.

  5. You wont get robbed or shot @ Los Compadres. It is actually uneventful inside during the evening. Unlike another watering hole around here that got shot up recently. No one has ever been robbed or shot inside while I was at Los Compadres. Ive been there every Wednesday night since they opened. They have a live DJ and a Beirut Tournament every Wednesday..

  6. If, in fact, this is the same chain / family as the Nashua NH La Caretta’s, my wife and I will be there opening week.

  7. So it’s been over a year and 2 months since the sign got put up. They do seem to be working on the place but at least 10 other places have opened since they started. Will they ever open? 5 guy’s is open, Chinese mirch opened. A new taco place on rt 135 is close to opening. Viva Mexico opened in wayland.
