This Is Framingham
Life in the ‘ham

Hiiii-ya!

May 26th, 2008

I occasionally think about what I would do if I got mugged or attacked.  I’ve heard of things you can do like walk with your keys in between your fingers and use that to accentuate a punch but I’ve wondered “What IS the best way to kick an attacker in the crotch?”
It just so happened that I got an email informing me about a free Women’s Self Defense workshop this Wednesday at 8pm.  I’m really looking forward to it and since it’s open to the public, I thought there might be some other ladies out there who might be interested.
Here is the information sent to me by the Framingham chapter of Mother’s and More:

  1. As a former resident of New Orleans (crime mecca) and former muggee, I would say, when mugged give them what you have, don’t mess around, and don’t look at them directly. Just get out with your life, it doesn’t matter what they take.

  2. That works for people who only want your money I suppose, keep a fake wallet with Monopoly money in it for them. Sadly, when males assault females in secluded places they have something more… damaging… in mind. Handing that sort a “cease and desist notice” they can’t ignore can be a lifesaver.
