Logan Express

February 26th, 2009

When I went to Oregon a couple of weeks ago I decided to take Logan Express.  At first I preferred to have Ethan drive me in to Boston but then I figured, he would have been just in time to hit the out-bound rush hour traffic, plus all the tolls and the time away from work to make the trip both ways.  So instead I opted for the Logan Express bus and it’s actually a pretty good system.  They run every half hour during the week, you can buy one-way or round trip tickets and it stops at every terminal and then you’re on your way.

I thought pick-up from the airport might be confusing but the buses pick up right outside of baggage claim and then, same thing (picking up people at terminals) and then you get dropped off back at the station in Framingham.
I don’t fly a lot but this is very convenient to have and I’m glad Massport decided to make Framingham one of the 4 locations they offer this service to.

You can check out their website for  more info: http://www.massport.com/logan/getti_logan_frami.html

  1. I’ve used Logan express quite a few times in the last three years. When you figure in tolls, gas etc, it’s much more economical for 1 or 2 passengers. However, I live close enough to walk/take a cab cheap. Can you believe they charge $11 a day to park in framingham?

  2. Logan Express is a godsend. Who wants to navigate by car the horror that is Logan Airport? Not me, particularly when most of my flights are early morning ones (i.e. I don’t read signs all that well at 4:30 a.m.) The bus drops me right where I need to go, and the drivers have always been awesome.

  3. They would probably make more money by charging less for parking. Most people can take a cab there for less than a few days parking and you don’t have to worry about your car in the lot. Plus you can leave a car in your driveway to make it look like you are home.

  4. This is the only way I travel to the airport. I agree with Megan, my flights are always really early and I’m half asleep!

  5. The best thing about Logan Express and living here is people never expect you to pick them up at the airport, they know they have to come to the HAM!!

  6. I love the Logan Express bus. I actually prefer to take the bus than to have someone drive me to the airport because, if you’re stuck in terrible traffic on the Pike, it’s really nice to know that the bus has a bathroom! It’s just a lot less stressful than driving to the airport or even being driven there. And I especially prefer to take the bus to come home than for someone to pick me up at the airport because it’s always a really long hike to where the car is parked at Logan.

The only thing I hate is that, even though the Logan Express terminal only about 2 miles from my house, it ends up costing me about $10 to take a cab there (including tip)! If the parking were cheaper, then I could skip the whole cab thing (we’ve done that, on occasion, as a treat, but it gets expensive pretty quickly).

  7. My husband uses the Logan Express all the time. It’s one of the reasons it was feasible for us to move out to MetroWest!

  8. I’ve lived here for over 7 years and have never been to Logan. All the relatives are trained to call 1) when the plane lands and 2) when the bus exits the Mass Pike. If the kids haven’t taken their shoes off, we get there just as they do. I consider Logan Express one of the great perks of living in Framingham.

We even have a friend in Franklin who leaves his vehicle at our house and takes Logan Express when traveling for pleasure.

  9. Hmm, does anyone take the train? Is the bus that much better?

I took the train to Logan just last week and found it to be preferable to driving, but then again, I can walk to the train station and not to the bus pick-up.

  10. Agreed with what others have said. Why would you NOT take the Logan Express. Convenient and hassle free. As a person who travels enough, I would not want to drive in to Boston - or have anyone else drive me in for that matter.

    I highly recommend Logan Express!

  11. COMMUTER BUS SERVICE: The best kept secret is the PETER PAN COMMUTER BUS SERVICE… on-time service…comfortable seating…lower fares (approx $6 one way) …FREE parking! The PETER PAN commuter bus service picks up in the Flutie Pass Parking Lot (across from the movie theatre… FREE to park there and hop right on bus waiting for you) or hop on behind Logan Express… 6:45 am, 7:15 am, and 7:45 am (In Boston by 8:15!!) Dropoffs at Copley Square, Park Square, State House and South Station. Ride back to Framingham in comfort (Leaves from South Station at 4pm and 5pm (also stops at State House, Park Square and Copley Square (right next to Trinity Church at 4:25 pm and 5:25 pm…Be in Framingham by 6pm!!) CALL PETER PAN/GREYHOUND and ask for information about COMMUTER BUS (Worcester/Millford/Framingham-Shoppers World/Boston)… You’ll never want to ride the delayed, expensive, and uncomfortable commuter rail again. PETER PAN = ontime service, less $$, and comfort!!

  12. I was disappointed that Logan Express charges the same for trips on Sundays but apparently only runs every hour instead of 1/2 hour on that day. We just missed one bus at Logan and ended up with a really long trip home because of it. Next time I’ll know but that seems cheap to have to pay full fare for half the convenience.

  14. What do the employees at the Logan Express / Peter Pan station in Framingham so f..king rude every time I see them on their transactions with a customer?
Other than that, the bus is a good thing.
