Looking for a little help

April 6th, 2009

As you may know, I was a huge fan of the old Shopper’s World and I was appointed “the person” by the Framingham Historical Society to find a paint/sign business to donate their services (in exchange for mentioning their great work on the Historical Society’s publication for the event and their name next to the finished product on display, as well and plugs on my blogs) repaint the old signs for an upcoming exhibit.

So far my conversations with local painting/sign business has not been successful but if anyone runs a business or know of someone who does and would be willing to make such a barter, please let me know.
We are not looking to perfectly restore it with neon lights but just take the old paint off and put nice new paint on.

Thanks for any tips! I can be reached at michelle@thisisframingham.com

  1. While I can’t help with the paint, I do hope you’ll keep us informed on this exhibit as it takes shape and goes public. I already want to see it!

  3. you could also check with local auto body shops in the area. some will take on side jobs like that if they’re not busy.

  4. What about contacting a school - say Keefe Tech for example - where a project like this would be taken on by students and supervised by a profesional.

    Just a suggestion.

I am really surprised that local shops have not taken this opportunity.

  5. Do you mean “in lieu of” or “in exchange for”? “In lieu of” means “instead of.” Not trying to be a jerk — just want to make sure that any potential barterers know what you are/aren’t offering…

  9. To get this done for free Keefe Tech seems to be the best route. I don’t see any of the local sign shops being any help unfortunately.

  11. Sorry I have not got back to you sooner, I am very interested in this. I accidently erased your e-mail to me. Feel free to send again, and if you have better pictures that could be a plus.
