Monnick Supply

September 26th, 2006

I went to Monnick Supply (on rt. 135) last week to get some glass cut for a window.
The guys there really know their stuff and actually seemed happy to answer questions.  A very nice guy (who looks like “Uncle Jessie” from Dukes of Hazzard) helped me and cut the glass cut to the measurments I asked for.  I said hopefully this will fit but he may see me the next day because this is a first window-replacing attempt.

Of course the next day I had to go back because we mis-measured and the glass was just a little too big for the window.  I went in there and the guy who had helped me last time, smiled when he saw me holding the piece of glass I bought the day before and said “You’re back!”.
I told him I wasn’t sure if they can cut such a small amount off but I need 5/8 of an inch off this piece.  He said “Sure, no problem!” and took the piece out back.

Another guy at the service desk saw my  cell phone and asked me how I like it and we compared phones and service providers until Uncle Jesse came back out with my resized glass.
I asked him how much that would be and he said “Nothing, glad to do it!”
It was such a refreshingly pleasant experience compared to what I have gone through at Home Depot, where sometimes the parking lot alone is enough to keep me from going there.
They also have popcorn for customers :)

  1. Glad to read that you had a good experience there becuz I refuse to go back due to the crabcakes that work there. My interactions with the key desk, propane refill and checkout have been unpleasant. Maybe I will give them another try. P.S. Love this blog!

  2. I’ve also have had mixed experiences at Monnick–more good than bad though.

(Yes, it was me that got the measurements wrong!)

  3. Great for those hard to find nuts and bolts. Don’t know about their other stuff because that’s the only reason I would go there.

  4. Would you happen to know if Monnick Supply can repair window screens?
P.S. This is a great blog! I discovered it thanks to the article a while back in the MetroWest Daily News. Keep up the good work!

  5. Thanks Pam!
I don’t know off-hand if they repair screens but I’m pretty sure they do since they cut glass and seem to be really handy with that kind of stuff.

  6. I’ve been checking out your blog and love it. We had a similar experience at Monnick’s with the wrong sized glass. They gladly cut us a new one. I wonder it that’s a trend there, though. I guess next time I should measure first before leaving the parking lot.
