Oil Change on Hollis St.

January 24th, 2009

I went to get my oil changed last week and I was kind of in a hurry.  I usually bring it to the good folks at Sullivan Tire but it was going to be an hour wait and I was headed up to NH and was way over due for a change and just really wanted to get it done before I went.
So I went to the gulf station on Hollis St. because my mom used to bring her car there when she worked in the area.

You go around the back to enter and I was greeted by a very polite gentleman who asked if I had come there before and explained how it worked and what the choices were.  He held the door open for me when he walked me over ot the waiting area.  The waiting room has nice big windows and you can see what they’re doing the whole time.

Towards the end, another gentleman came in to tell me what some of the maintenance is “recommended” for a car with my mileage, I didn’t partake in any of it since I had already had that stuff taken care of but his apporach wasn’t the usual scare tactics that some places use to make you feel like your car will blow up if you don’t do it, so I appreciated the delivery of the options.
When i went to pay, everything that was done was explained and was told their work is guarenteed so if anything weird happens after to please bring it back and they’ll look at it right away.  Which is what you’d expect but again, it was said so nicely like they care about the work they do.  It’s been over a week and nothing weird has happened, infact  I feel my car is running better than it usually does.
They also vacum your car for free and offer a discount on a carwash with the oil change.

  4. When I lived in the area, this was a Sunoco station, and for the longest time it and the Gibbs station by Washakum St. always had the cheapest gas around. When did it become a Gulf? I’m assuming (and from the looks of the picture) that this is the station on the southbound side of 126 a block or so south of the Store24. If not, sorry for the mistake.
