Registry services for AAA members

July 8th, 2010

According to the MWDN, the AAA office next to Walgreens on Rt.9 will be offering RMV services to their members.  This is great since Ethan and I signed up for AAA last year and this great to know we can avoid going to the Mass Pike location in Natick to get license renewals.  Currently the old RMV downtown still remains vacant :(

  1. Michelle,

I also read that in the MWDN today. Thanks for posting it. I am also a AAA member and it’s GREAT news! This is the next best thing to having a Framingham RMV branch as we used to. AND, I have also noted that the old downtown RMV location remains vacant!

  2. I guess from a convenience standpoint this is good news for MA drivers. But my initial reaction to this news was slightly more skeptical: One of the biggest lobbyists in the country for all things related to driving more, now in bed with a governmental agency to regulate the same activities. Doesn’t seem right. Just another reason to switch to AAA’s leaner, greener competitor, A Better World (abetterworld.com); as I did.

  3. Matt - Couldn’t access A Better World using the URL you provided. After Googling it up, found the correct URL is www.betterworldclub.com.

I’m reluctant to give up my AAA membership in favor of a different one because I get my money’s worth out of the hotel and car rental discounts alone.

  4. Sandra,
Sorry about the link; thanks for the correction.
Don’t get me wrong: AAA is a good deal, for a lot of reasons, and now I don’t get free maps anymore with ABW. We just got cynical about how much money AAA was (is) spending on state and fed. lobbying efforts — didn’t want to fund that.

  5. Having the convenience and stress-free ability to take care of DMV business at the local AAA office on route 9 is GREAT news for AAA members. In the next few weeks, I need to update my drivers license - what a relief!
