Roast chicken dinner at the Columbus Club

November 8th, 2009

Outside of my regular work I also keep my waitressing skills sharp by working at the 400 and pick up an occasional shift at the Columbus Club where Paul Sanchioni runs an all you can eat roast chicken dinner every Sunday. It’s an incredibly good deal: soup, salad, pasta, potatoes and chicken for $9.95.

Paul gets there before the sun comes up and makes everything from the focaccia bread (which is amazing) to the tomato sauce, to the main course. All Paul, all awesome.

If you’re familiar with Paul’s cooking, you know how good it is. If you’re not, you’ll be in for a treat. The Columbus Club is at 11 Fountain St. and the chicken dinner is every Sunday from 12-6pm.

  1. A few times in the past I’ve attended functions at the Columbus Club, so I’m familiar with the place. I’d recently seen a sign advertising those Sunday dinners at the Columbus Club, and was thinking of trying it sometime. After reading this post, I know I’ve GOT to make a point to have dinner there some Sunday! $9.95 is quite a bargain for all that good food!

  4. Hi Michelle,
Do they use waitstaff for the Sunday dinners or is it like lunch when you pick up food at the counter?
    Thanks

    Mike

  6. Hi Mike,
You just sit down and the food/drink is served by waitstaff (which is sometimes me).

  7. While I am sure it is at least decent, isn’t this somewhat of a biased post? As if we are to believe if the food was no good, you would really put this place on your S#@% List. You shouldn’t review places that you have a interest, perhaps mainly a financial interest in, it makes people like me doubt the credibility of this site.

  8. OMG! Somebody alert the Better Business Bureau quick!

Give Michelle a break, Chuckles. This isn’t Consumer Reports.

  9. Chuck, I disagree. This is a personal blog and I write about my experiences and what I do, where I work etc..
I honestly think the food is awesome, like I said I only occasionally pick up shift there so there is no huge financial interest for me.
If you feel my blog isn’t “credible” because of that, then you might want to just read other Framingham blogs that give you the type of opinions you’re looking for.
Sorry you’re dissapointed but I can’t change my blog for everyone who thinks it should be the way they want it.

  10. to speculate that a waitress at a restaurant would create positive reviews of their restaurants to get more tips is a little over the top.

    Comment by JoeC — November 9, 2009 @ 6:07 pm

  11. Points well taken, however to JoeC, I don’t think it is hard to see how more customers would create the chance of earning more money.

I guess my point is you reviewed a place you work at, at the very least as an employee despite your actual opinions of the food it would not be couth to bad mouth your employer. So although like I previously said, I’m sure the food is at least decent, if it were not, I wouldnt expect her to tell us its no good considering she is employed there, albeit very part-time. Do you expect Bill Gates to tell us how horrible the latest version of Windows is?

  12. Chuckles,
I don’t know why it’s so hard to believe that I like the food at the place I work at once a month or less, but so be it. I can’t stop people from jumping to conclusions or taking this blog too seriously.
I’m not sure why you didn’t have a problem with me posting about the Shopper’s World event at my other job - since I suppose I could benefit from people going and supporting the History Center. I guess there’s some rule you have about what I can and can’t post about.
I don’t know, perhaps you should start your own blog about Framingham with opinions that you feel are more useful. It would be more productive than wasting your time reading blogs you doubt the credibility of. Best of luck.

  13. Michelle, I think you pretty clearly labeled yourself as an occasional employee of the restaurant, which is really the same type of disclaimer used by newspapers, magazines, etc., that are owned by larger companies. Chuck, if that connection is enough to make you skeptical, just don’t go - or set your expectations accordingly. If Michelle hadn’t made it clear that she worked there, perhaps you’d have a reasonable gripe, but it’s just not the case here.

Besides, the pictures alone make my mouth water. :)

  15. One word: Outstanding! Thanks Michelle for posting this. I’ve taken the family twice and we’ll be back. One thing to mention: Kids under 6 are only 5 bucks I believe. Just something to keep in mind if you are planning on bringing little ones. When I was a kid we used to have big family dinners on Sundays, Italian style. This is a nice and cost-effective way to keep that tradition going, and the best thing is that we don’t have to clean up!
Thanks again Michelle for doing what you do. That Chuckles guy can go hang out at the Olive Garden.

  16. I agree with the overwhelming majority here, Michelle….you have put out many disclamers in the past and are very credible. Thanks for the site…its been on my favorites list for awhile…..keep up the good work!

  17. That food looks delicious, especially the bread. I bet you have a lot of regular customers.

  18. that chicken looks fall-off-the-bone delicious.

  19. Looks yummy! & a good deal

As for Chuck, you clearly do not know Michelle & she would say the food wasn’t so great even if she worked there. Also do you really have nothing better to do with your time. If you don’t want to eat there don’t
