Samba: Take out

December 27th, 2008

I’ve posted about our Samba experience before, which was really good. We’re always on the look out for a good Thai place because we love the Pad Thai. So far the best place is in Erawan of Siam Waltham but we’ve been checking out more local places. So far they’ve all been okay but we’ve got a few recommendations to try Samba for Pad Thai, so we did.
This is really good, probably the closest to Erawan’s and I’d add myself to the list of people who recommend it.
I haven’t been to Samba in a while but when I went in to pick it up, I was pleasantly reminded how nice it is inside and will make sure to come back here soon with some friends for an evening of hibachi.

  1. For Thai food, I am a big fan of Krua Khun Yah (325 Pond St, Ashland, MA 01721). Not in Framingham, but only a touch down the road. I haven’t had anything that I haven’t liked yet.

  3. Great tip. Erawan of Siam is also my favorite, and has been for almost 15 years. Since moving to Framinghama couple years ago, we have been shy about local Thai food. This is good news. Thanks.

  4. Eeew. Thai food isn’t very appetizing in appearance. The chefs should add a bit of color to it, in my opinion. Otherwise it just looks like that awful stuff that I see on the sidewalks in Downtown Boston left by the heroin addicts who didn’t get their next fix in time. . .

    Eeew.

  5. Gosh I miss Siam Garden in Sudbury! :-(
I have yet to find anything nearly as fresh and yummy. I’ll have to give something new a try locally.

  6. I agree with the poster above about Krua Khun Yah in Ashland. I had never been there before but always kind of felt bad because everytime I was in that plaza the place was always completely empty. After reading the comment above I decided I’d try it out, and I thought it was great! It had been a while since I ate Pad Thai and I recall not really being a huge fan of it, but I thought theres was really, really good. I also had a couple of apetizers and they were great. Let’s help them fill the place up!

  7. Try EO Noodle on RT 9 near Game Universe. Fantastic. And the service can be comical.

  8. Right over the line in Sudbury Sweet Pepper is good (in plaza behind where Cafe Decadence used to be on Rt 20, next to Diva salon). I like it better than Morn’s over in Wayland.

  9. Anyone know of any Vietnamese restaurants in Framingham (even MetroWest) area?

  10. Our favorite for years has been Morns in Wayland…Always the best.

I don’t know of any Vietnamese in MetroWest, but there is a great one in Canton on Washington St.

  11. Good to know. I’ve been on the hunt for decent Thai in the area. Wonder if Samba has Pad See Ew? It’s a noodle dish like Pad Thai, but with wide noodles and broccoli. Yum!

  12. Have you ever tried Thai Avenue in Sudbury? It’s right next to Fugakyu Cafe and is a small little place but we love it for take-out. I think my hubby liked the pad thai but we love some of their other dishes. I think it’s more authentic than Morn’s, but I’m partial to the hole-in-the-wall gems.

  13. Another thumbs up for Eo Noodle! The soups are rich and tasty with fresh ingredients. Haven’t been to Morn’s in a while, but always enjoyed the food. Have to try the two Sudbury suggestions above.
