Taste of China
January 28th, 2010
Everyday I get the mail the Trolley Square post office and about once a week I go to Taste of China (which is in the same plaza) for their Hot and Sour soup.
I know it doesn’t look like much from the outside, and actually it looks like even less on the inside, but I went there a while ago on my friends recommendation and found the soup to be really good.

They do fill up the container, I just remembered to take the picture after I already had some. I’ve tried Hot and Sour soup from a few places in town and this is one of the top contenders. The only thing is that you have to ask for them not to put MSG in (if you care about that) but they’re happy to leave it out if you don’t want it.
I haven’t tried anything else there but for $2.10 (sometimes I’ll get a small order of brown rice for $1 more) it’s such a great bargain lunch.
they do some great chow foon & udon as well

Michelle: I have to disagree about Taste Of China…I have had some very bad meals there. You can read more about my last time there at: http://criticalpalate.blogspot.com/2009/06/from-radio-waves-to-your-plate.html
That being said, I really enjoy your travles around the different places in Framingham and the MetroWest. Keep it up!

Yeah, this is the worst Chinese place in town. I used to live at the Sovereign Apartments right around the corner, so I tried it a few times — never happy

I have to agree with the naysayers… This place is awful.

This is our favorite (well, nearly) Chinese and best choice for delivery.
I have noticed that the food, particularly the crab rangoon is top notch on Saturdays and not so hot on Thurs to Friday.
Different chef?
Well, top notch on Saturday.
thanks for mentioning the place!

“particularly the crab rangoon is top notch on Saturdays and not so hot on Thurs to Friday”
As a fan of Kitchen Nightmares- I know what that means. It means they make the crab rangoon on Saturdays. If you get it on Friday- it’s a week old. Aahahahahahahhahaahhaha.

Wow. I’m surprised by the negative comments. We’ve been going to Taste of China for many years and have never had a bad meal. Everything has been well prepared and tasty. We occasionally do family dinners there when the kids are in town. We especially love their egg drop soup.

I have to agree with the naysayers, Taste of China wouldn’t be one of my first half dozen choices for Chinese in Framingham. However…..
1. It should be noted that Taste of China’s hot and sour soup is quite good, if a little oily. I’d order it again in a heartbeat.
2. It should also be noted that at one time (maybe 10 years ago), Taste of China was a lot better, and a place that I then endorsed without qualification.
3. Worst in Framingham? As far as it’s fallen, it can’t possibly have fallen further down the pecking order than Sampan downtown.
4. Remember, Michelle chose it because she was in the area. Convenience counts for something.

Been here. The prices were dirt cheap; they recently went up a bit.
Crab rangoons here are just the pits. My dad loves the hot & sour soup, which I don’t believe comes with lunch specials like they do at other chinese restaurants, but well worth it.
It doesn’t have the best atmosphere. However, if you like nice, greesy chinese food like I do, you’re in luck (& the right place)! My favorite = sesame chicken.
