Train station yesterday and today

March 9th, 2009

A nice reader sent me a photo of the train station during it’s construction in 1885-86.  If you click on it you can see a larger version and some nice details.
Below is Ethan’s photo he took a couple of years ago when he did his post about the history of this building.

  1. It really is a beautiful building. Anyone know what happened to the building (church?) that is in the background where there is currently a parking lot?

  2. I was also wondering about that clock tower in the background. Do you think those guys building the train station in the old picture would have ever dreamed that it would become an Indian restaurant?

  3. It’s not even an Indian Restaurant anymore…IT’s now a Brizilian Steakhouse. I miss Ebeneezer’s…

  4. Last year I saw a guy drop a deuce next to that building, so it’s nice to see a picture of it back in the good old days, long before people did such things out in Downtown Framingham.

  6. LOL–I remember when the old train station was a train station! My dad worked in Boston and my mom and I would go in there to buy tickets. We’d take the Buddliner into town, shop at Jordan’s and Filene’s, then ride home with him. That was back in the ’50s.
