Zaftigs West coming!
September 1st, 2010
It’s been a while since posting, I’ve just been so busy doing non-blogging stuff and getting the kids ready for school, it’s just been crazy. Okay, I don’t have any kids but for some reason posting has not made it on the list of things to do but maybe things will simmer down in the fall.
Also, this post is Natick related but still, it’s so gosh-darn close to the Framingham line and pretty exciting news I thought I’d post about it. A very nice reader sent me a note about Zaftigs Deliof Brookline opening another place in the former Joan & Ed’s spot in Sherwood plaza.
It is mentioned at the bottom of the Board of Selectmen article here: http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/top_stories/x2001473683/Natick-may-have-3M-left-from-2010-budget
I’m so excited, this place is great and I’m glad they thought of expanding to the metrowest area!
Very funny. My first thought when I read your first sentence is how could someone have kids and never have mentioned them before in hundreds of postings LOL
I look forward to trying that deli!

Awesome!!! this place is unreal - one of the best deli’s in all of Boston area. Every weekend there is a line out the door in Brookline - it will be great for the economy!

I used to live in Brookline and loved Zaftigs. This is great news now that I own a house in Framingham

While we’re on the subject of Natick, does anyone know what’s going on with the old Barber Brothers? They’re tearing up the old lot.

This will be great. I really miss Joan and Ed’s. Maybe this will make us feel like they never really left!!!

Very exciting…I blogged about Zaftigs last winter when I reviewed several delis in the local area.

This is really good news for the restaurant scene out here.

On another Natick restaurant note, the old Vinny T’s on Rt 9 West is going to have a Chineese Restaurant in it some time in December early January. Not my first choice, but better than an empty shell

And on yet another restaurant note… Red Line Diner (formerly, Riley’s Roast Beef) in Nobscot has closed. Sign on the door cites declining business conditions.

I still can’t believe Joan & Ed’s is closed, but if Zaftigs is as good as everyone is saying, that will help. We’re definitely going there next time I’m home.

When you posted about “getting the kids ready for school” I even got confused for a minute, and I’m your sister
There is always the possibility of sending Clyde to St. Mary’s to have the nuns straighten him out a little

Meh. I’m torn. Zaftig’s in brookline is ok. I love deli’s. I love NY/Jewish deli’s. I love that Zaftig’s is coming., but I’ve never been overwhelmed with their food or the value, then again deli and value are never in the same sentence. I wish Kugels could upgrade their space and service to be more like a Zaftig’s but with their food. that would be pure bliss.
