This Is Framingham

Today we walked around downtown and checked out the new fabric store where Fabric Place used to be.
It was nice to see it being occupied and although they don’t use as much space as the old store, there are still plenty of fabrics, notions, books and other sewing supplies.

Also we noticed that the Russian store Skaska is now a beer/liquor/convenience store:

At first I thought it must be for Halloween but then thought maybe they have that sign up year-round.

I’ve actually got a few emails suggesting I check out the new Cumberland Farms on at the Rt. 30/Speen St. intersection.
I never seem to get over this way anymore but made a trip just to see what the hub-bub was about.
It’s a nice looking building that’s simple but not boring.  I like the colors and the design.
Inside is everything that people said it would be. ???? ???? 2022   Bright, clean and a convenience oasis that rivals other gas stations.

This place IS pretty nice of a convenience store.  The people working there were nice and friendly and I know it’s new but I couldn’t get over how clean it was. ???? ????   I wish all gas stations were all like this! ???? ?????

It’s that lovely spooky time of year again!  My work, The Framingham History Center, is having their annual Haunted Trolley Tour. ?????? ???????
It’s a 45 minute ride through Framingham’s mysterious past! ????? ???????? ?? ?????? 2023    Actors from the Framingham Community Theatre will narrate the spooky legends and ghost stories that abound on the back roads and main thoroughfares of town. ????? ??? ??? ????

After the tour people can come back to the Edgell Memorial Library where we’ll be displaying some fine vintage Dennison Halloween products, playing “old time” seasonal games and offering cider and donuts.
The tour takes place on Saturday, October 30th at the Edgell Memorial Library and trolley’s leave at 5pm and 6pm
$10 for adults, $5 ages 8-12
The ride isn’t suggested for children under 8 years old.

The Framingham 14 will be playing the original Back to the Future film to celebrate the 25the 25th Anniversary.  Show times are only once on October 23rd and 25th only. ????? ??????   I think it’s a great idea and thought it would be nice if they do that with more older movies.  Anyway, if you’re looking to go back in time next Saturday (or the following Monday) you can check out the AMC website for the extremely limited showings of the film and buy tickets.

According to the realtor for this property, she has stated:” The FABRIC PLACE site will be reopened by the end of October. The name will be “Sewfisticated Discount Designer Fabrics”. The Framingham store will be the third location of a family operated business. The new website www.framinghamfabric.com  will be online by Monday. (although it’s not as of today)
They will carry a complete selection of fabrics at deeply discounted prices including all types of apparel fabric, brand-name quilting cottons, high-end home decorating fabrics, and tons of trims, notions, ribbons, and crafts.”

I’m actually glad to see another fabric place move in because I stopped quilting when they left and hope to get inspired by a new place I can easily get to and hopefully it will be worth other sewers to travel out to it like they did with the old store.
Joanne’s is okay for the usual fabric needs but sometimes schlep to get to down rt.9. in Natick.  Between this, the new appliance/furniture store, Limey’s and the soon-to-be-opened balloon design shop, it seems like downtown is picking up a little steam.  It’s nice to be able to say that because yesterday I almost wrote a full rant about how much I hate downtownbut I’ll save that for another post when I have a day like I did yesterday. ivermectin maroc

Last night Ethan and I went to check out the newly opened Limey’s Pub.  I’ve been looking forward to this place opening because it’s in walking distance of my house and it’s something new and different for downtown. 
Inside they’ve done a great job with remodeling.  It’s not the dark (although kind of dim) shady atmosphere that Sampan was and it had a laid back and yes, “pubby” feel to it. ???? ??????? ???? ???? ?????

We started off with a couple pints of Guiness

and then Ethan got the shepherd’s pie and I got the fish and chips:

 The pie was really good.  A traditional mixture of beef and lamb with vegetables, mashed potatoes and cheese.

and the fish was perfectly light and flakey:

The fries were really great too.  The service was friendly and attentive, as you’d expect it to be during their first week open but I think it is just the kind of place that will always make you feel welcome and treat their customers well. ????? ???????
I’m so glad this was a good experience with good food because as we know, downtown needs some good places to go to. I really wish them well.
No website yet and if you google them, there’s not a lot of information like a phone number or anything but I’m guessing it’s because they’re just so new, but they’re at 101 Concord Street (where Sampan’s used to be). uno rules
