Limey’s Pub

October 3rd, 2010

Last night Ethan and I went to check out the newly opened Limey’s Pub.  I’ve been looking forward to this place opening because it’s in walking distance of my house and it’s something new and different for downtown.
Inside they’ve done a great job with remodeling.  It’s not the dark (although kind of dim) shady atmosphere that Sampan was and it had a laid back and yes, “pubby” feel to it. ???? ??????? ???? ???? ?????

We started off with a couple pints of Guiness

and then Ethan got the shepherd’s pie and I got the fish and chips:

The pie was really good.  A traditional mixture of beef and lamb with vegetables, mashed potatoes and cheese.

and the fish was perfectly light and flakey:

The fries were really great too.  The service was friendly and attentive, as you’d expect it to be during their first week open but I think it is just the kind of place that will always make you feel welcome and treat their customers well. ????? ???????
I’m so glad this was a good experience with good food because as we know, downtown needs some good places to go to. I really wish them well.
No website yet and if you google them, there’s not a lot of information like a phone number or anything but I’m guessing it’s because they’re just so new, but they’re at 101 Concord Street (where Sampan’s used to be). uno rules

Farmer’s Market

September 18th, 2010

Every Thursday on the center common the Farmer’s Market sets up from 12:30-5:30.  I love this time of year anyway but it’s so great to be able to check out the local fall harvest and other treats right outside my work.
This year they have added a couple of new vendors one selling fish and one selling fresh pasta.

An impressive variety of pasta offerings:

Of course here are poduce stands as well as breads and pastries:

I know the hours aren’t good for people who work until 5 in another town (like I used to and would be annoyed I couldn’t go) but if you can swing by, it’s worth checking out.  I’m not sure how many more weeks they’ll be there but you can check out their site for any announcements and links to the vendors’ websites: http://www.framinghamfarmersmarket1.org/

Voting tomorrow

September 13th, 2010

The State Primary elections will be held tomorrow.  Framingham always has a low turn out for voting and I know some people are not motivated to vote but I just thought I’d throw my 2 cents in and say I support Chris Walsh like I did last time he ran. I’ve actually got to know Chris in the past year since his office is right next to where I work and we’ve had some nice conversations about Framingham and I really feel like he’d be a great State Rep.
Also, last year Chris volunteered his time to help lug up the (seemingly) multi-ton Shopper’s World sign from the basement of the History Center- what could be more a reason to support a candidate? 🙂

You can check out Chris’ site for more info at http://www.electchriswalsh.com/
Happy voting and remember if you live in precinct 5, 6 or 9 your voting locations have changed this year.  For more information on that click here.

Zaftigs West coming!

September 1st, 2010

It’s been a while since posting, I’ve just been so busy doing non-blogging stuff and getting the kids ready for school, it’s just been crazy.  Okay, I don’t have any kids but for some reason posting has not made it on the list of things to do but maybe things will simmer down in the fall.
Also, this post is Natick related but still, it’s so gosh-darn close to the Framingham line and pretty exciting news I thought I’d post about it. A very nice reader sent me a note about Zaftigs Deliof Brookline opening another place in the former Joan & Ed’s spot in Sherwood plaza.
It is mentioned at the bottom of the Board of Selectmen article here: http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/top_stories/x2001473683/Natick-may-have-3M-left-from-2010-budget
I’m so excited, this place is great and I’m glad they thought of expanding to the metrowest area!

They’re heeeere!

August 17th, 2010

We were out taking a walk tonight and saw some of the new recycle bins that the town is in the process of delivering to each household.   They’re pretty big but good for picking up every two weeks.  The containers pictured above are the larger ones that I believe had to be requested and the standard 64 gallon bin are delivered to everyone else.   In fact, when we got home from our walk the recycle bin fairy had stopped by our house and there was a shiny new bin waiting for us at the end of our driveway!
I think it’ll be fine but my friend Rev. Bob pointed out that this will be more of a challenge for the people who rummage through the bins in search of cans and bottles.  I picture seeing legs sticking out of the tops of the bins every pick up day but we’ve been pretty lucky to have neat rummagers who make sure to put everything back so hopefully it’ll stay that way.
The new recycle schedule of picking up ever other week starts Sept 7th.  For more infomation, check out the town website.

Taj Indian Grocery Coming Soon

August 12th, 2010

Wow, I guess it’s been a while since I’ve posted, I was on vacation and then easing back into work and I just haven’t felt like sitting at a computer any longer than I have to but I’ll hop back on the blogging train and start posting regularly again.
So there’s not too much going on but I did notice at 330 Concord St. ???? ?????? there is a new Indian grocery store opening up.
In a semi-related story I was told there is going ot be a Chinese-Indian restaurant opening up near  or on Rt. 9, I haven’t got the details but I’ll post more on that once I investigate. 777casino
So if you like Indian food, there’s a couple of things for you to look forward to!

Downtown happenings

July 25th, 2010

I was walking by the old Fabric Place’s auxilary space on Concord St. and noticed a permit in the window and that the inside was cleaned out and getting worked on.  There was also a layout plan of the floor space and it seems like it’s going to be some kind of electronic store. how to make my own ivermectin 1% face cream

I went home and looked up the permit number to find out more details but it didn’t show up on the town’s permit search. how much ivermectin do you take for 140 lbs So I did a search for all recent permits on Concord St. and Still nothing came up for this location but I did notice a bunch of permits for 101 Concord St. (Sampan’s current location) for serving alcohol, pool tables, live entertainment, coin-operated devices and amusement/show/exhibit under the name “Limey’s Pub”.

It’s a little weird that it’ll be gone just because it’s been there for so many years but I think Limey’s Pub could be interesting and I’m looking forward to check it out when it opens.
