Burrito Bar at Whole Foods

October 31st, 2009

I’m usually not much of a burrito girl but yesterday I was in Whole Foods and saw how good everything looked on the burrito bar, so I went for it.
You don’t physically make it yourself, but the burrito makers will put as much or as little of whatever you want on there.  The guy making my burrito was a particularly good sport, and didn’t mind having “the paparazzi” (as he called me) taking pictures of the burrito making process.

You get a choice of white, wheat, spinach or sun-dried tomato tortilla and then brown or white rice and black beans.
Then you choose from grilled vegetables, chipolte chicken, shredded beef or pork carnitas.  I actually saw tofu on there too, although it’s not listed on the board.

I asked for a mix of grilled vegetables and chicken and then we moved onto the last section which had a nice assortment of toppings like cilantro, vegetables, guacamole and salsa:

My almost done burrito:

Which doesn’t look like much in this picture but it did have a lot in there considering I asked him to go light on the rice and beans, which are buried on the bottom and you can’t see the guacamole and chicken covered by the salsa but it was a pretty substantial burrito.

For $4.99 I think it’s a  good deal (beef and pork is $5.29)  and it can be a nice alternative to buying a pre-made sandwich for just as much, if not more, money and not picking your ingredients.

  3. They do have fabulous tasty burritos that’s for sure!!! I sometimes get one for a late breakfast and am not hungry again until dinner! They fill it well with quality ingredients.

  4. I love burritos! I will certainly give this place a throw. I wonder why you haven’t reviewed Chipolte yet? It is a wonderful place and they have a lo of options as well. Also any update on the new Mexican place that is supposed to be going in where the old Bickfords is?

  5. Sorry Hayduke, I usually mention the addresses of smaller businesses but like Fred suggested, I figured people knew where the Whole Foods in Framingham is. If that happens again, you’re best bet is just doing a quick search for the place + framingham, but I also hyperlinked in the first sentence of the post to Framingham’s WF webpage.

Chuck, I’ve heard good things about Chipolte, although since I’m not usually a burrito eater, I never made time to go over there, plus I try to avoid (what they call) Shopper’s World - BUT, if I ever happen to be over there and I’m in a burrito mood I’ll definitely check them out.
Nothing new on the Mexican place, I’m looking forward to the pub opening in the Ski Market plaza though, looks like they’re almost ready to roll!&
