Pro Wrestling Comes To Framingham!

May 16th, 2008

Next Friday night “Chikara” is making it’s Massachusetts debut at the Framingham Civic League. What is Chikara?  A Philadelphia-based, pro-wrestling organization that is family friendly and combines elements of the Mexican Lucha Libre and Japanese wrestling styles.  It has been described as a “comic book come to life”.
Some of their featured wrestlers:

Chikara contacted me to tell me about their event and offered an interview with their wrestler “Lightening” Mike  Quackenbush!
Here’s some Q&A where I display my fantastic interviewing skills:

How did Chikara decide on Framingham for it’s MA debut?—Framingham just seemed like the perfect fit for us in terms of size; not too big, not too small.

Why did you get into wrestling and did you have a role model?—I got into pro-wrestling during my high school days, and I idolized Jushin Liger, a Japanese wrestler with incredible skill and grace. I was already making money in wrestling by the time I got to college, and it just took over my life from that point on.

Do you have a signature move?—I am lucky enough to have a few. My “Lightning Lock” submission hold is a lot like tying my opponent into a pretzel until they must submit.

What do you listen to when you’re working out?—My taste in music is slightly dated. I listen to a lot of 80’s bands -Talking Heads, Squeeze, Simply Red, Crowded House, Naked Eyes, that sort of thing.

Who was the most challenging wrestler you’ve been in the ring with?—Back in 2002, not far from Framingham, in fact, I wrestled the late, great Eddie Guerrero shortly after his departure from the WWE. Just keeping up with him was exhausting.

Do you have a lucky pair of tights?—Not really, but I know some guys are very superstitious when it comes to those things.

What’s your favorite snack?—I’m a Creamsicle man, myself. There are just never enough in the freezer it seems.

But wait, there’s more!Chickara would like to offer a pair of tickets for some lucky person to go see the awesomeness of Aniversarioma, so I have set up a contest (sort of) where I will randomly pick a reader who comments to this post.  The winner of the tickets will be picked on 5/22.For more info check out their site: chikarapro.com

Ethan and both needed haircuts and I was always curious about what getting a haircut from a beauty school  would be like…AND they were having a special on haircuts for , so we went to get the Blaine experience. apple flavored ivermectin paste

Inside looks like a regular salon.  There is a reception area where we signed a form acknowledging that students would be performing the service and we waited for just a few minutes before we were shown to our chairs by the student hairdressers.

I kept telling Ethan “just tell them you only want a trim – they probably can’t mess that up”
I have to admit I was a little nervous when my hairdresser told me she just started cutting hair on “real people” last week but I figured it couldn’t be any worse than the haircut I tried to give myself a couple of weeks ago. So I threw caution to the wind and decided not to worry about it. ivermectin 12 mg tablet buy online
Both of our haircuts actually came out pretty nice and I’d say was well worth the $5.  The only downside is that (I’m guessing because they’re students) they’re VERY slow. imerticina   I just got a basic trim and had to pass on the included blow-dry because I was in the chair for 45 minutes and I had to get out after that long.  Ethan was in his chair for almost as long.  So I wouldn’t recommend going here before catching a movie or  planning on meeting someone.
I may try their $5.75 special on manicures another night.

I can’t find their hours again on the webiste but I remember they’re open at night Tuesday-Friday until 9:30 and only take walk-ins at night.  If you’re curious, check outtheir site: http://www.blainebeautyschools.com

REI

April 2nd, 2008

I’ve only been to REI a few times.  I’m not much of a camper or hiker so don’t go in here much but this year I decided to get one of those bright yellow jackets for bike riding so I went here to check them out.
Even though I don’t have a need for most of the stuff in here, it is a pretty impressive store.  Two floors, a climbing wall and all the little nick knacks you could want.

I didn’t even know Cliff bars now come in gel shots!

The jacket I wanted was $70, I decided to look around but no one else seems to have them.  I may check out Landry’s too but I’m guessing that’s the going price for a wearable lightbulb.

Running through

March 30th, 2008

On my way to drop off my bike at Simple Living Cycles, I saw a bunch of runners doing their marathon practice run.   I hate to say it but  I always think of what my former boss, who runs the marathon, said once “Its funny how we start off in these nice, quaint towns and then we get to Framingham and there’s trash everywhere”  She didn’t know that I live in Framingham and didn’t mean to be insulting but now I always think about how Framingham is viewed to the out of-towners or out-of-staters who run thought it while training and on marathon day.

Oops!

I took this picture form our front steps (don’t look mom!).  Someone skidded onto the sidewalk in front of our house, which is only a few feet from the curb. ivermax dosage for humans   From the way some people zoom around this corner, sometimes I’m surprised someone hasn’t crashed into our house already- even when there isn’t any snow on the ground.  The idea of a fence has crossed my mind but I really don’t want chain-link and I don’t think picket would do much either for a crash or aesthetically. ivermectin efficacy  This is the first time I’ve seen evidence of a car getting this close to the house, so hopefully it’s just a fluke incident. is ivermectin a treatment for covid 19

My favorite sink in Framingham

February 16th, 2008

My mom’s friend, who graciously allowed me to post about her sink but requested to remain anonymous, (so I’ll just call her “P”) lives in town and for years I’ve always admired her decision to decorate the bathroom in brown and white.
As you might guess from the theme of my blog, I love brown and I’ve never seen a brown sink anywhere else.
“P” said when she was picking out the fixtures (sometime in the 70’s) she wanted to get a brown bathtub too but the plumber strongly suggested she didn’t and told her she would regret it later.
Unfortunately, she followed his advice, I would have loved to see the brown bathtub in there too.   “P” wants to update her bathroom but said I can have the sink when she does.  Ethan is “thrilled” of course, what we’ll do with it I don’t know (our 1 bathroom can only accommodate a  pedestal sink) but I just can’t bear the thought of this rarity ending up in a dumpster.

CVS

February 14th, 2008

I think of the CVS downtown as “my” CVS since I can walk to it and because of that, this is where I pick up any prescriptions.  I like this CVS because it has both a front and back entrance (with plenty of parking) and it’s pretty small and cozy compared to the standard “super” drugstores (including other newer CVS’s). ????? ?????? payeer
Another thing I like is the wallpaper:

It’s nice to see some company pride in the decor.  I feel like if I stare at it long enough, I should see a 3-D image but so far, nothing. ????? ???? ????? ?????? 2024
Also,  I just noticed today that they use paper bags for some prescriptions.  I asked nicely and they put mine in one : )
