Crown Fried Chicken

May 18th, 2010

Yesterday was the grand opening of Crown Fried Chicken at 40 Concord St. Ethan and I stopped in tonight to get some take-out and see what it was like.  Inside they have plenty of seating and a buffet that seemed to be half-set up but what I did see what pretty much just different kind of rice.
Everything offered on the menu is posted above the order counter.  They have everything from fried chicken, to burgers, to buffalo wings and fried seafood.

We got a 5 piece combo with fries.

I’m not a fried chicken connoisseur of any kind but I thought it was okay, crispy on the outside and moist and juicy on the inside.  The fries were just okay.  Ethan thought the chicken was wasn’t that great.  He said he’s had worse but probably wouldn’t go back here.  I feel like if you like fried chicken it’s worth checking out.  I’d be interested to hear what anyone thinks who has a little more expertise.

  1. This place looks great, too bad it has a horrible location. Right next to the Salvation Arym. Sheesh.

  2. I agree with John, it is in a terrible location with no parking so it is tough to see this lasting long, but I will be stopping in tonight to try it out. Love me some good ol’ southern fried chicken

  3. I have mixed feelings about this place in this location.
On the one hand, I’m all for a new tax paying business offering up competition and a variety of foods. On the other hand, let’s face it, it’s just another fast-, fried food joint not offering up much that anyone would call “healthy” or inspired food. Call me cynical.

  4. It is a shame Framingham couldn’t get a little variety, seems every new place is just a fried food joint without any real options. Would love to see a Qudoba, or a Moes come to town, and I think it would do well. Problem is unfortunately in downtown they are catering toward a certain type of customer. Especially where the the old KFC was, it tends to be very low income and most people when eating out cannot afford to go to a nice place. Its unfortunate, I do wish however that a Popeyes would come to town, they are great.

  5. I don’t think there’s really any shortage of higher-priced restaurants in the area (maybe not downtown but Rte 9 is just a few minutes drive away). :)

I live downtown and I’m that ‘certain type of customer’ so I’m happy to see it here.

  8. I’m curious to try it but it doesen’t look very parking friendly, and i’m not partial to dining with the Sally’s crowd across the street. Too bad they couldn’t find a better location with some off street parking.
