Progress: Dennison Triangle

August 24th, 2006

The other day I went to an open house of the almost-completed condos at Dennison Triangle.
They look like they’ll be nice once they’re done.  Here’s a link to some inside shots. People are paying good money ($300,000-$600,000) to live there and they’ve sold a decent amount already.  It should be interesting to see if this becomes a popular place and ends up having any effect on downtown.

I used to live off Moody Street in Waltham, it wasn’t the best neighborhood but there are so many great shops and restaurants that walking up and down Moody was something to do for fun.
I think our downtown has such potential to be like that.  I’m hoping that with these condos, the arcade project (whenever that gets started) and a little TLC,  downtown can be a place worth spending time in.

  1. I fully agree. Downtown Framingham has great potential. I wish this Dennison project well! I’ve been attending meetings of “Framingham Downtown Renaissance” for a few months- a good group.

  2. A friend of mine was all gung-ho on buying one of those units, until he was looking at what would have been his bedroom and a CSX/MBTA train went by and rattled the windows…

  3. Living for a couple of years in the Davis Square region of Somerville, I have missed the great walking neighborhood that the area offered. Now that I live in the Framingham Center area, I am happy to see changes to the downtown area. I am waiting for the trendy coffee shop with Wifi connections to pop up where the abandoned consignment shop on the corner of 135 and 126 stands. Any talk of putting the train underground? They can tunnel right past Ashland center. Imagine downtown Framingham with less traffic, less noise, and huge parks where the tracks used to be. We can call the project the little dig.

  4. Friends of mine bought one of these condos, a young couple.. I hope the trend continues and leads to a rejuvination of the downtown area — My only comment is… if you can afford 300 - 600K for a condo here, why wouldn’t you buy a house! You could get something really nice in framingham for that price range.

    GO FRAMINGHAM!

  5. I was thinking the same thing about the old consignment store- how that would be a perfect location for a coffee shop. Maybe someone will pick up on that.

As far as the little dig, I hear both: plans on making it happen and that it’s not going to happen. I can only watch so much cable access before I am lulled to sleep but I know I’ve read about it in the paper too. Last I heard someone had a whole proposal on an underpass downtown, and the town would choose whose proposal they will go with, so who knows.

This recent article does mention working on it, among other things:

  6. I think the area along the track going to Natick is already much better than it used to be. So there’s hope. I think it’s a great step forward.

  8. a 2bedroom for $1850 a month sounds like a great deal.. NOT!!!! Are you out of your freakin mind YOu should be ashamed of your self charging that..that neighborhood is a dump…only a complete moron would move into there!!!!

  9. Bill has obviously never priced a 2 bedroom apt locally. I live in marlborough in supposedly Luxury apartments that were just built and I’ve had major contruction issues, flooding and rodents! And I pay over $2000 for 1200 sq feet.

I would hardly call downtown Framingham a dump. It has character.. something not found very much locally anymore.

  11. How are the prices holding up now? Since most of the comments above are from ‘06, has there been a decent drop in price?

  12. My guess is they’ve sunk with most everything else. I think also that some units are being rented rather than sold.

Given the price bubble we experienced, lower prices, if it will move more units, is no a bad thing IMO. Good opportunity for people to get a relative bargain,

  13. Me and my partner are moving to Dennison Triangle this weekend. The units are great. We are moving into a 2 bedroom and renting for $1500. They have new appliances, central air, fios ready, two full bathrooms, two walk in closets, and a washer and dryer in the unit. The area is not a dump, in fact they are re-building down town Framingham. $1500 for a two bedroom luxury apartment is not expensive for the Boston area. It is also really close to everything you could possibly ever need.
