Slowing down

December 21st, 2006

I’ve been a little slow with the posts lately, this time of year is so crazy I don’t have time to go investigate as much as I’d like and can’t get to the thing on my list as much but I was going though the police log and saw this:

LARCENY: 35 CONCORD ST, SALVATION ARMY.  FEMALE WALKING ON TRACKS WITH BLACK ROCKER JACKET STOLE 3 PILLOWCASES OF MDSE FROM ABOVE.

Just wondering if anyone knows what “MDSE” is, I have no idea.  Also, what is a “rocker jacket”?  I’m hoping I don’t have one because I don’t want to be confused with anyone who has been seen walking down railroad tracks carrying three pillowcases of something while wearing one of these.

Also, reading through these I usually find someone who I call “jerk of the week” but haven’t decided if it’s worth posting really, but I’d like to nominate this person for this week:

LARCENY:  RP STATES THAT SHE LEFT KEYS WITH SPEED PASS ON HER VEHICLE AND HER HUSBAND  DROVE OFF AND KEYS FELL OFF. UNKNOWN PERSON FOUND KEYS AND USED SPEED PASS.

  1. I’m pretty sure MDSE stands for “merchandise”.

I don’t know about “rocker jacket”. My first guess is some sort of leather or denim jacket. Seems like “leather jacket” or “denim jacket” would have been more descriptive if that were the case though.

  2. I would guess that MDSE would be merchandise, as in three pillowcases of merchandise from Salvation Arly was stolen.

  3. There was another report of a suspicious person wearing a “dungaree” jacket and I actually leaned back in my chair when I read that. I don’t think I’ve heard anyone use that word in 20 years.

For some reason I can only picture this “rocker jacket” as something Richard Marx would wear but no real definition of what it should look like.

  4. I think a Rocker Jacket might be like the one Pat Benetar wore on the “Love is a Battlefield” album, which clearly is made of 100% pure dungaree:

Do you think they sell those at the Salvation Army? Maybe she was filming a video for a new revamp of V66, wearing that jacket and walking down the train tracks with all her posessions on her back - kinda moving, yes?

  5. Ah yes! Julie, everything you said makes perfect sense.
You’re never too old to run away from home!

  8. The picture just keeps getting better! A woman in a Fonzie jacket (aaayyyyyyyyyy) hoofin’ it on the tracks. Wonder if she was going inbound or outbound.

  9. The reference to a rocker jacket takes me back to Framingham South High School in the late 70’s when we referred to young fellows in leather jackets as “leather clad rockers” - the line comes from the Who’s Quadraphrenia.

The leather clad rockers were considered degenerates. Whereas - it being the 70’s - those who didn’t wear leather, but preferred blue jeans and smoking weed, they were the creme de la creme of South High Society!
