The New England Museum Association runs an annual publication competition in several categories. The Framingham History Center won the Judge’s Choice Award in the “Websites, Budget under $750,000″ category.
I’m not just happy because it’s where I work, but also that my husband Ethan was the web designer who created the site. So, it was nice to have him get some kudos too!
Click here the MWDN article about it, and the FHC site, and Ethan’s web design site.

Last week my boss and I decided to take a fieldtrip to Eastleigh Farm and take part in their $1 scoop ice cream deal.
I had never been to the farm but I’ve heard about it a lot this year due to the Board of Health recently approving the sale of raw milk and all the hubbub that went along with that .
The shop is in a rustic building at the front of the property and inside they sell all their goods like milk, ice cream, cheese, eggs and more.

The ice cream they sell is not made with raw dairy and they have a lot of flavors to choose from.
Annie got chocolate chip and I got Almond Joy. The cones are a very decent size for $1.

The price goes up after July 4th, to how much I don’t know, but I think this heat wave we’ve been having is a great reason to take a trip to the farm and get a $1 cone! For more information checkout Eastleigh’s site at: http://eastleighfarm.com

I was coming home From Target tonight when I saw that the former Quizno’s shop will soon be a Five Guys!
I love their fries, they have good burgers too but I think their fries really are the star of the show.
I took this picture at their Marlborough location. I couldn’t find an opeing date for the Framingham location on their website but it will be at the “food mall” at Rt. 30 and Caldor Rd. Can’t wait till they open!

The Planning Board is meeting on June 24th and on the agenda is parking for the former White’s Hardware which will finally be occupied. As soon as White’s when out of business, I wondered what could possibly want to take it’s place. The location is behind a strip of three stores on Franklin St and it’s very hard to see from the street.
When I heard that a wine storage company was looking to move in, it seemed like a perfect fit. A big warehouse type space that doesn’t need pedestrian traffic to operate. International Wine Vault has a website you can check out to see what they do and what their rates are. I won’t be needing their services, but I think it’s great they are occuping the old place and I wish them luck. One less empty, lifeless building in Framingham!

I just want to say that I HATE all the traffic going on in town due to construction on some main streets or world cup celebrating. I’m lucky enough that I can walk to work, but I had to drive yesterday so I could go to an appointment and it took me longer to drive than it does to walk (20 minutes).

Then when I was trying to get home, traffic was at a standstill and backed up Concord St. from downtown to a little past Hartford St. Apparently there was some World Cup street celebrating that happened to take place right at rush hour.
I’ve encountered such terrible road manners and I try not to let it get me in a bad mood but it’s so disheartening how people act to fellow drivers and how selfish people can get when they decide where they want to get to is more important than following the laws of the road and do things like cut you off and then give you the finger or purposely block paths of oncoming traffic because they didn’t care that even though traffic wasn’t moving, they decided to squeeze by a yellow (even red) light and plug up the intersection.
Anyway, I’ll be trying to avoid driving during the day as much as possible and good luck to everyone trying to get around town in the paths of construction.

Video craze has had a for lease sign in their window for a while and I thought maybe it’s just for another suite in the building but today I noticed a sign stating that it’s closing and for some reason only offering deals on their “Adult” DVDs. You can get one DVD for $10 or three for $10(?)

I know they moved to Natick years ago but Joan and Ed’s Deli was an important part of the old Shoper’s World. I worked there when it was at SW and remember when I was late for work running up the ramp and bringing home pickles for my mom at the end of the night.
Anyway, they had the best knishes around and their food will be missed!
Here’s the MWDN article posted today about the closing: http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/news/x669149831/Joan-Eds-Deli-to-close-forever-after-Fathers-Day
