Fresh Choice is open!

November 16th, 2009

Today I went to get the mail at the Trolley Square plaza like I do everyday and was expecting to peek into the window of the soon-to-be-open produce market, like I do every day, except today it was open for business!
It was great to see the store I had watched progress all summer, fully functioning. what is mectizan used for They did a nice job inside:

The produce, as expected, looked fresh and crisp:

They have a variety of breads including their own that they bake fresh every day:

In addition to lots of imported jarred and canned goods, they offer plenty of cheese, cured meats and smoked fish, whole, cut and sliced:

Just walking through this place is fun, you could make a project out of trying something new every week. I spoke with the owner for a little bit and when I asked him why he chose Framingham to open this store he said “because you needed it”. He has been in the specialty food business for many years and most of them were in New York, where he imports a lot of his items from. where can i get ivermectin tablets
Like the cakes, which looked fantastic:
This place is everything I hoped for and I think it will do well because of the unique items that can’t be found at the bigger markets. Their site isn’t quite up and running but they’re at 855 Worcester Rd. and the phone is (508) 872-7272.

Celtic Dragon Dress Designs

October 10th, 2009

Ethan and I were taking a walk one night and noticed a sign in a window for Celtic dress designs.  I was really curious and wanted to learn more about this business and why they picked downtown to open their shop so I emailed the owner and she was nice enough to invite me into the shop and show me around.
Julia Ebel, the director, designer and owner, started the business almost 2 years ago and has been at this street-viewable location on Union Ave. since this past summer.  She’s from Natick but chose this location for it’s affordability and space.  As she showed me around and talked about the work involved in these dresses, I was amazed at the attention to detail that goes into these dresses and the quality of fabric she chooses.
With the help of her mom and some Framingham State College interns, she makes beautiful Celtic dance competition dresses as well as any kind of non-Celtic  special orders and can reproduce dresses from drawings/photos and even wedding dresses.
Here are some of the dresses both finished and in-progress:

Some children’s dresses:

One of my favorites was a colonial dress, perfect for a costume party:

Another thing I like about Julia’s shop is that she loves working with her clients on the design.  She said sometimes people will come in with a family crest and ask her how to work it into a dress design, while others will leave it up to her to design and she sends them her designs to choose from.  For anyone interested, she always welcomes people to come to the shop, take a look around and see the workspace in back.  I highly recommend checking the shop out if you can, Julia is very informative and great to talk to.  I went there thinking I’d visit for 15 minutes and we ended up talking for almost three hours.

Celtic Dragon Dress Design is  located at 118 Union Ave, 2nd Floor, right across from the Danforth Museum. (phone: (508) 820 7745)

Haunted Halloween Trolley Tour

October 1st, 2009

Yay, it’s finally my favorite month, October!   I’m excited that the Framingham History Center is running their Haunted Halloween Trolley Tour.  Below are some details from their website:

“Take a 45 minute trolley ride through Framingham’s mysterious past.  Costumed actors tell true stories “dug up” and verified by author James L. Parr during a tour that features haunting scenes at actual locations of the town’s most bizarre and scary tales.  Sword fighting pirates, ghosts, highwaymen and eerie tableaus will unfold as riders wend their way through the highways and byways of town. After the tour visitors will be treated to refreshments and a variety of activities at the “haunted” Edgell Memorial Library on Framingham’s Centre Common.  Esmeralda will tell fortunes, while paranormal investigators will share the “results” of their stake out at the library last winter.”

Check out their site for more info and to buy tickets: http://framinghamhistory.org/calendar.html

Regal Cleaners

September 6th, 2009

I very rarely use a dry cleaner, not because have anything against them but I just don’t usually have a need for it. But I recently got some “dry clean only” items and since Regal Cleaners is so close to my house and they do such a nice job keeping up their property I thought I’d bring my stuff down there. side effects of oral ivermectin in humans
The owner is a really nice guy who was born and raised in Framingham We ended up talking for a while about the neighborhood. ivermectin cow lice It’s funny that he used to pump gas here when it was a gas station and now owns his own business here. kilox ivermectina 0.6 solucion oral para que sirve
Regal was very professional, fast (brought my clothes in around noon and they were ready by 4:30pm) and after calling around to a few places, found it to be the least expensive. It was only $4 per skirt while other places I called were $6 or $7.
If you live near Regal Cleaners (281 Concord St) I highly recommend you support this local business.

J.N. Phillips

July 30th, 2009

I had a  little chip in my windshield that I kept putting off repairing because it was so small but this week I finally got myself together enough to make the time to call J.N. Phillips on route 9 and get it fixed.  Actually, I called Kwik Oil Change first because I knew they did glass repair but I was told they ended that service  6 months ago and they suggested J.N. Phillips.

I never had to get a windshield repaired before but it was a fairly easy process.  I made the appointment with J.N., the next day they called and put my insurance company on the phone, they asked me some questions and then I showed up for my appointment the next day. is ivermectin a prescription drug in canada
The guy who worked on my car was really nice.  He introduced himself, shook my hand, explained what he was going to do and then just went ahead and fixed it which took about 15 minutes. egg withdrawl ivermectin
If I had known it was this easy (and 100% covered by insurance) I would have done it a long time ago.  It’s just one of those things I kept putting off.  Also, they come to your home or work to do this if you can’t come in. sewer fly myiasis treatment ivermectin   I probably won’t be needing this service on a regular basis but I would definitely recommend them to anyone who needs any glass work done.  Here’s info on their Framingam shop: http://www.jnphillips.com/FRAMINGHAM.html

Amy’s Convenience Store

July 5th, 2009

It’s not often I have a reason to travel “up north” to Saxonville, but when I do I always make a point to stop at Amy’s convenience store (68 Water St.) just for the fact that they it’s the only store in Framingham (or anywhere in the area) I know of that sells Hershey ice cream’s Chocolate Marshmallow Whirl, which is my all-time favorite, pre-packaged, individual serving ice cream treat.
Other stores carry Hershey ice cream products but not this particular item.
If you’re a fan of chocolate ice cream and marshmallow, this is a must-try!

I’m so greatful to Amy’s for carrying this and I guess it’s a good thing they’re on the other side of town to keep me from buying these more often and keeps these a special treat 🙂

The 400 Restaurant (where I work) now has a website with all the information you would want: printable menus, hours of operation, contact information etc…
I just can’t say enough about how much I like working here because the food is fantastic and Bob and Amelia are probably the nicest people on the planet. Help support a local business and check them out! http://www.the400restaurant.com
